RIP Hulk Hogan
The noted showman of WWE, Hulk Hogan passed away today from a heart attack at his Clearwater Florida home.
Hulk was pure showmanship in the wresting ring and a main star in the WWE. especially gaining his stardom literally defeating Andre the Giant at 7'4", 500 pounds vs Hogan's 6'7" 300 pound frame. His famous shirt ripping and gravelly voice taunting others, the 'Hulkster' built up his reputation fully. Along with his 'Hulkamania' wrestling. Literally EVERYBODY knows of Hulk Hogan.
Hulk was also an actor, first appearing in Rocky III in 1982, 'No Holds Barred', 'Suburban Commando' and 'Mr Nanny'. along with voicing numerous video games.
Over the decades, Hogan took on everybody, and developed a reputation of never losing (Especially since WWE is literally staged) even with dealing with other WWE egos like Macho Man Savage.
Either way, Hulk Hogan left his mark in todays entertainment world.

It sucks that so many wrestlers seem to have shorter lives than normal.
Wrestlers tend to wreck their bodies, both physically and chemically. I read that in a recent interview, Hogan said he'd had over 25 surgeries over the past two years...
Still, he lived his life clearly doing what he enjoyed.

I grew up in Minnesota watching pre-WWE wrestling types like The Crusher, Mad Dog Morgan, Pretty Boy Pete and The Mask on TV, nothing like the crap shown on TV today. No chairs tossed in the ring, no hair pulling and hyper over drama. It still had drama, likely staged as well. But hell, I'll never forget the Crusher, (who was like Six foot Twenty and bald) and Pretty Boy Pete and his flowing blonde locks of hair.
Later on watching some WWF event out of boredom , seeing some canvas mat monster jump off the ropes and "Thrust his elbow" into the throat of another laying on the mat and the camera angle CLEARLY Showed the elbow hitting the canvas, and the 'victim' grabbing his throat as if his windpipe was crushed and thrashing about. I literally switched channels, never watched another event again.
Yet the wrestling fans eat that shit up!! Hell, even the legendary Santo, it was all an act.

At 71 I would hardly call that "shorter" than normal.
As for the 25 surgeries, it depends on what was being done and the cause. Having a broken tooth removed can involve surgery. So can catarack replacement (x2). But those are relatively minor these days. So without knowing the type, it's hard to judge.

Probably. Bones was 7 foot tall+. Alfie Wise is a short fellow with a raspy voice.
Alfie Wise was the obnoxious assistant director in Hooper. Burt Reynolds had a funny line: "I never compromise...Life's too short...(turning to Alfie Wise's character)...so are you."

I grew up watching this man, he was a favorite of mine even if I was just a little kid during the 90s, I loved seeing him in his movies and always believed he was the best wrestler of his time.
He will be missed but never forgotten resting well forever in peace.

It's not so much the wrestling bit, but the destruction of his personal image after he was caught saying racist stuff. (See Terry Bolea vs. Gawker) After that video of him using racial slurs got out, he was exiled from the wrestling scene for a few years before returning and telling the current wrestlers-- not that he regretted saying those things, or that he was wrong-- but to watch what you say because there are cameras everywhere. He was sorry he got caught, and so many people hated him for that. I had hoped he would change his ways as the years went on, but he doubled down and kept acting like it never happened.
Suburban commando was my favourite movie of hist career, i know WWF is mostly spectacle, acting and staged fights, yet i found it always entertaining and thrilling, specially in its golden years, the 80s and early 90s, Hogan was another important part of the pop culture from those wonderful years.
I had nothing but respect for Hulk Hogan until he jumped on the MAGA bandwagon.
I don't mean to speak ill of the dead, but if Hogan was a good man with a good head on his shoulders, he would have stood up for freedom and democracy, and not a political party that follows and never questions the word of an emotionally crippled old fool like Donald Trump.

Good to see someone with common sense standing up for what's right.
The officers on Jan 6 were heroes and not traitors. Their names were Brian Sicknick, Jeffrey Smith, Howard Liebengood, Kyle Defreytag, and Gunther Hashida. Sicknick was killed by the rioters, and the others took their own lives from PTSD.
Don't waste your breath trying to change these MAGA people. They have been nothing but sore losers their whole lives and the only thing that gives them pleasure is to feed off the miseries of other people. They look to bold leaders like Trump who lie in the face of evidence and downplays the Jan 6 insurrection as a "day of love" and gives them something to focus their rage towards to make them feel powerful for the first time in their whole lives. Just like what Hitler did.
Take care, friend. And may the mass demonstrations across American cities and the world drive Trump out of office.

Ashli Babbett was shot and killed by Capital Police, 3 other Trump supporters died either just before everything got hot, or during the chaos due to medical reasons, and one via an overdose.
Suicide is not acceptable either way. Leibengood took his life 3 days after, Smith days later, Hashida days later, Defreytag stroked out. PTSD is never acceptable either.
So, how about all those law enforcement personnel that were injured, wounded, even killed during the Floyd riots https://www.cnn.com/2022/01/13/us/p.....of-duty-deaths Or are those acceptable to you? Certainly wasn't caused by those MAGA types, all those riots, looting, arson across the country. All those "Peaceful Protests" (while buildings are literally burning in the background) , Countless businesses lost due to those riots. Numerous state and federal buildings destroyed. Having witnessed myself personally as looters and arsonists literally had a field day on State street where I live. Of 104 businesses on State street, 98 were looted, arsoned and where the mayor actually told the police "To stand down and allow the protesters to get it out of their systems, besides, those businesses have insurance." Both the Police and Fire Department have since a 100% voted a no confidence on the mayor. Of the 6 businesses NOT Looted, literally pulled a "Roof Koreans" at their places, sparing them from attack and theft. Of the remaining 98 businesses attacked, only TWO had 'Civil unrest coverage' , UnderArmor and Fontana Sports. The rest lost most of everything. Over 60% of the spaces didn't reopen and remain boarded up 5 years later. Yes, very peaceful. January 6th was a shitshow, no arguing, but the riots and protests leading up to it after the Floyd incident were far far worse. Oh and least we forget the joke the extreme left pulled in Seattle, the CHAZ/CHOP fiascohttps://www.historylink.org/File/22870

Okay, I don't care if he supported Trump or Biden, he made his mark in our lifetimes, that's why I memorized him. YOU are dragging politics into this. Trump knew Epstein, he admitted it, he also dumped him over 20 years ago for "Being a creep". Plus if he was on the island banging young girls, the DNC would have exposed that info well before the election. They had the same information at the time. Why aren't you grousing over Bill Clinton, another "Frequent Flyer" with Epstein and another noted sex pest while in office too. Or you chosing to forget Monika Lewinski and the cum stained dress?
What's kind of messed up is that in many of our minds, celebrities don't age. We picture them a certain way (favorite movie, concert or wrestling event) and assume that they'll be that way forever. Sadly, our idols age, get sick and ultimately pass on, just like the rest of us. RIP Hulk Hogan.
I grew up watching the local Portland Wrestling. Saw Piper and Snooka before they went big. Never got to see hulk in person tho. I remember hearing my dad commenting 8Whisper Whisper* every time somone would throw from the turnbuckles or get whipped into the ropes. Pissed me off. I loved that element of emersion and he broke that. it may not be as real as they make it look but there is still a physical aspect to it, and I don't think anyone can deny that.
RIP Hulk Hogan.
RIP Hulk Hogan.
Ehhh...I only watched Pro Wrestling for Mean Gene Okerlund...great voice and funny deadpan reactions when the wrestler and manager interviewees trash talk and go nuts.
Hogan was okay in the ring and seemed personable in interviews with the non wrestling media. Memorable Face...and Heel.

Here I was sad when macho Man Randy Savage passed away now hulk is going as well. Nothing does anyone here remember that comic where Hollywood hulk Hogan and the incredible hulk head a I want to call it a match but was more like hulk Hogan trying to pick on the hook only to find the hulk was stronger than he expected. It's been about 30 years since I read that comic book mostly because I never actually owned a physical copy of it I just ran across it in the comic book shop
