Valthraz had always found humans... Intriguing. Fascinating.
Such tiny creatures, frail, vulnerable, yet they challenge and stand up to foes far larger and more powerful than themselves. Provoking and starting wars with the dragons in the name of courage and honour, and hunting rare specimens like himself for sport rather than survival. What would drive them to seek out danger and death like this? A mouse would never seek to hunt the lion, nor the fish the shark. So why are humans difference? Was is just in defiance? To break free from their place in the world? Was is this defiance, desire, that gave them the strength and power to succeed?
Wandering the ancient ruins with the veil of night, Valthraz pondered why the humans insisted on building these grand, sky-touching structures, towering over land and sea. For what purpose did they raise these monuments? To stand as tall as possible in the world, to have every living creature look up to them? Or was it solely constructed to serve as a permanent mark on the world, something that would outlast their short life? But in the end, even that would be reclaimed by the earth, to be forgotten....
