Yep, Luca wrestled sharks. Worked as a harpooner, catching sharks, whales, seals, whatever would sell for money. He also tangled with some larger land animals for pelts and such...
Don't feel too bad for the animals he hunts, there are barely any endangered species in this timeline. Not enough people around to endanger nature much. Humanity is the only endangered species.

Funny enough, I actually know someone who was almost mated by a nurse shark.
No naming anyone obviously, but lets just say they were part of a diving group that was observing bioluminescent plankton (at least I think it was plankton, been a while since I heard the story) and a nurse shark wandered over trying to flip them over (which is how they initiate mating).
Sharks are just as weird and crazy as they are terrifying.
