Yeah there are quite a few actually. I really like the Swedish version -usually i prefer the original but the translation and voice-acting are so good. There is also another change that makes more sense: when Steele and Balto fight over the medicine Balto does not say"Let me help you" he says "For the children's sake" making Steele seem even more crazy since he is reminded of what is at stake and ignores it.
I say this because of how Balto was technically a low-budget movie, and yet they had the budget to do a dub in a language that would have a very limited market reach, yet a lot of high-budget and popular movies/TV shows don't do so due to the majority of Swedes being bilingual and the already said limited market reach.
Yeah it did not even get a theatrical release here which is sad. The studio translating it was Eurotroll and I think they worked on dubbs for all of Scandinaviain the 90s.
Yeah the Disney movies often got more attention and few people heard of Balto, but those who has seen it loves it. It also depend on the translator who "direct" the translation: today they sound like google translate basically - back then it was a performance. They cared for the character . Now most dubbs sound like a tiered mall-santa- they do the job - a little jolly but the adults can hear how the person in the suit wish they were dead XD.
Yeah nowadays kids start learning english in grade 3.
