When you write about certain characters for long enough, there eventually comes a moment when it feels like they've taken over, and you've just been left to edit what they have to say. This is apparently not an uncommon experience for writers, and I've often been asked if it's ever happened to me. I'll freely admit that I do occasionally get moments like this - moments when I throw a situation at certain characters, and somehow instantly know how they'll each react.
You could say I just have that good a handle on these guys after ten years or so of writing the various versions of SPCM...or you could imagine I've just been doing this instead.
