The lapileur are an ancient intelligent alien species that set out to colonize a couple of planets, including the primeval planet of Lutumire (before the skyields fully evolved and really gained sapience in order to become the main species there). Things did not turn out so well for the lapileur given that Lutumire was a dangerous and treacherous planet to live on at the time (akin to Dagobah from Star Wars) and their HQ skimped out on giving them resources as they felt that Lutumire was mostly a lost cause. They were forced to live up in the trees for safety and the few that remain still do so. The colony on Lutumire was left behind and forgotten during a chaotic stint in communication. There are very few that remain on Lutumire and the current status of the rest of the species who remained beyond the stars remains unknown.

The lapileur are known for their insect-like traits and glowing body parts. They are sensitive to vibrations and have an attraction to electricity and shiny things. They also kept electric mice as pets.
