Aurora
Sometimes
In the darkest night
The sky is lit by such beautiful colours
To show us that there is still brightness somewhere
I had this idea for a good while, and the minimalist style I've been trying lately was such a good vehicle for it <3 There something about it, that high-contrast nature that can really make things stand out so vibrantly...
I've never seen the aurora. Even in recent years when it's made its way down to more southerly latitudes, I've never been lucky enough! But I really hope to one day, to see the sky light up in great ribbons of light...
Enjoy <3

In the velvet darkness of the blackest night
Burning bright
There's a guiding star
No matter who, or what, you are
That's such an original and gorgeous piece. And I can just imagine that creature as a guide themselves, a canine psychopomp to lead us to fates unknown but breathlessly anticipated.

Holy shit that's cool. PC background material (♥ w ♥)
(I've only seen the aurora borealis properly only once. The ENTIRE sky was glowing and like.. flashing and buzzing. Even saw full-sky strobing red flashes, and purple/blue/green flowing streaks across the sky.. like a truly all-encompassing aurora. Was last year (2024), with my back-then partner when there was a solar flare / geomagnetic storm during a meteor shower no less. (the one in like ..around september/october? Orionids? Perseids?)
But whatever, that's a damn awesome piece!!
Would hang a framed print on my wall for sure!~ :3

You always manage to amaze us with those mythical ideas that you have had in your head for a good while by putting them on paper, and sincerely, I can only thank you for doing so buddy. The minimalist style is pretty often the best vehicle for showing the wonders of mother nature in a simple but highly meaningful illustration. Me neither have never seen the aurora borealis in my life, can only fantasize and keep up my hopes to one day finally see it irl. Good luck to you Dark! For sure that day will happen my friend, and I do hope you'll enjoy the show gifted by mother nature!
This breathtaking and very atmospheric picture earns a full 10/10 🐺🏔️🌙

despite understanding the aurora perfectly well, SEEING the aurora myself in person for the first time was...
well, it feels more like an animal, not a weather feature.
despite being SO big, it also snakes across the sky, your entire field of view, so fast!
that, plus being surrounded by dark forest & sea gave me a rush of panic.
i like animal depictions of aurora.
cool style here, DV!
