After being teleported to another world, the Eshin Clan expedition was forced to choose a new leader. This leader, as well as most of his assistants, were the surviving gutter runners. They became responsible for obtaining food, trading with other races, and also taking care of the clan's safety. Many skaven are famous for their agility and speed, so at first their army consisted of night runners, more suitable as hunters and messengers. After 20 years of practice, the duties were divided, the strong rats became triads and the agile ones became gutter runners. While the armored triads hold off enemy soldiers, the gutter runners flank and weaken them with poisoned throwing knives. Their duties also include reconnaissance, surveillance, distraction, hit-and-run style exhaustion, and, if necessary, engaging in close combat as support units.
