After the short trek out of the fortress, Eldstar smiled at Yoshi.
“Well done! You have the guts to fight Bowser's forces!”
Yoshi smiled, “And then, after rescuing all of you star spirits, I can get my shoes back!”
“W-well, yes,” Eldstar said, “Well, in that case, let me give you a power to aid you in this rather, umm... unique fight.”
Eldstar focused, channeling star power into Yoshi. Yoshi could feel the warmth welling up inside of him.
“There! You now know 'Happy Refresh'. When you call upon this power, tiny stars will come out and give you a rather refreshing tickle, hence the name. This should allow you to last the fight longer... and boost your mood a bit, judging from what I've seen of you.”
Yoshi grinned. “Thanks! This'll really help!”
Eldstar nodded, “I sense the power of another star spirit in the desert. Be careful, the enemy is going to get more devious. Well then... good luck!”
With that, Eldstar fly up into the sky, disappearing into the blue.
“Well then! Onward we go!” Goombach said. With that, the uneventful trip back to Toad Town began.
-
Meanwhile, in a garden near a small goomba house...
“Ah, this is the life!” a bratty young koopa troopa said – so young he was still mostly in his egg shell. “A playground all to myself, with no pesky people to bother me!
-
Yep. Uneventful.
Arriving at Toad Town, they managed their way south to the train station.
“Ah, Yoshi! Just in time, we just remove this rock blocking the train tracks. Yep. Without a bomb or anything,” a toad said. “So, I'm guessing that you want to go to the desert?”
Yoshi nodded.
“And... you're going barefoot?”
Yoshi nodded again.
“I can't let you do that, Yoshi. The desert sands will burn your feet. Go find some sandals or footwear or something!”
Yoshi sighed, “Bowser's got my shoes, you know, and I can't find anyone willing to lend me theirs or make new ones or something. I mean, I'd still want my shoes back, but at least this journey would be easier...”
“Did someone say they don't have sHhhhoooeesSS?”
Yoshi turned around, coming face to face with a hooded person, definitely a koopa judging by the beak protruding from under his hood. “Yeah. What of it?” Yoshi said.
“Well, I just happened to have this extra pair of sandals! And I do believe they are a perfect fit for you, Bleheheheheheheeeeh....!”
Goombach frowned, “I don't like this. This seems suspicious.”
“I don't have a choice. How much for them?” Yoshi asked.
“Oh, don't worry about it. I think they're destined to be with you, hee hee...”
With that, the figure pulled a pair of sandals out of his inventory. Yoshi wasted no time in trying them on. They fit quite comfortably, with a strap going over the toes, and another strap going from that strap to Yoshi's ankles, where they buckled into more straps. Yoshi stood up, smiling. They were really comfortable!
“See, nothing bad happened, Goombach. Thanks, Suspicious Koopa Guy!” Yoshi said.
But the figure was nowhere to be found.
“Oh well, time to be going!” Yoshi smiled, hopping on the train.
“Hrrrmm... not sure if happy-go-lucky or just stupid...” Goombach said to himself before following Yoshi onto the train.
A rather energetic train ride later with some awesome music blaring from the speakers, they eventually arrived at the base of the mountain.
Yoshi stretched, stepping out into the rocky terrain. He could already feel the heat wafting past his toes.
“Well, Yoshi, we're finally here. There'll no doubt be new enemies to encounter, but we'll-- I mean, you'll manage it just fine.”
Yoshi rolled his eyes. Wasting no time, he set forward on the trail.
It took awhile to find an interesting sight. Namely, a worried paratroopa who seemed to be looking for something he lost. As Yoshi approached, the paratroopa seemed too absorbed in his search to even notice the green dinosaur. Shrugging, Yoshi just continued down the path.
The next interesting sight came when several rocks just leaped to life, each covered in dull spikes that seemed to be a little loose for some reason.
“Er, what are those?” Yoshi asked.
“Hmm! They seem to be Clefts, but... their horns are a lot duller and looser for some reason... YOSHI WATCH OUT!”
Yoshi turned away from Goombach just in time for one of the Cleft to shove their horn into his belly. Said horn immediately began to vibrate, sending immense ticklish sensations throughout Yoshi's belly. Laughing, he jumped backwards.
“Oh, they vibrate. Well, that explains it. These Tickly Clefts, as I'm going to call them, sure seem like a fight! It goes without saying that you can't jump on them, as those vibrations would tickle through your sandals. And it also goes without saying that they're not ticklish! Try something!”
Yoshi nodded, sticking his tongue out and wrapping it around a cleft, trying to lift him up.
“TOO HEAVY!” Yoshi cried, before two more clefts got at his sides, thrusting their horns into his sides and vibrating them. Laughing, Yoshi quickly untangled his tongue, withdrawing it.
“We need to retreat!” Goombach yelled.
GAME OVER VIEW!
Yoshi immediately ran down a side path.
“No, not that way!” Goombach yelled, but Yoshi was already out of hearing range, the clefts hot on his tail. “Oh well, may as well follow and see what data I can get.”
Yoshi quickly found himself at a dead end. Turning around, he could see the clefts closing in. Tripping backwards on a rock, he found himself with his back against the rock wall... and a cleft right in front of him.
Crowding him so that he couldn't get up, the clefts used their mighty jaws to bite at Yoshi's straps, pulling his sandals off. Crying in protest, the clefts tossed his sandals out of his reach.
Moving closer, one cleft managed to wedge Yoshi's ankles between four of his spikes. Yoshi bit his lip, bracing for impact. Four vibrating spikes pressed into Yoshi's soles, sending him squealing with laughter. To make matters worse, clefts closed in at his sides and began to press several of their vibrating spikes into his sides and belly, making him laugh harder.
The horns and spikes were quite ticklish against his scales, Yoshi laughing himself crazy. Yet he smiled inside and said, “You know, even if I fail my quest... I want to take one of these home!”
STORY RESUME!
Yoshi ran back with Goombach, away from their destination. The clefts followed, but they quickly lost them.
Panting, Yoshi reached inside himself, pulling on the power Eldstar gave him. Tiny starlings of blue energy appeared, flowing over Yoshi's skin and under his sandles. Giggling, Yoshi jumped around a bit, but he could feel his strength return to him.
“That looks handy,” Goombach noted. With no choice, they moved backwards, coming across the paratroopa again. This time, he noticed them.
“Oh, sorry! I didn't see you!” he said, “My name is Parakarry. I'm looking for some letters I, uh, lost.”
Yoshi nodded, “I'm Yoshi!”
“And I'm Goombach!” the goomba next to Yoshi said.
“Great. By the way, you look like you ran into some problems.”
Yoshi nodded, “See, there are these, uh, 'Tickly Clefts' in the way, and I can't defeat them or get past them.”
Parakarry nodded. “Yeah, they started appearing for some reason. Quite a pest, but I guess they're just playful. Hmm...”
Parakarry seemed to think to himself for a bit, before decisively dropping his fist into his palm.
“Alright, I'll help you! I'll act as a diversion, and you can get past them.”
Yoshi looked concerned, “But... won't you get caught by them?”
Parakarry smiled, “That's kind of the point. I can get away from them when I want to.”
Yoshi nodded, guessing exactly what Parakarry was planning. “So what do you want in return?”
“Nothing. This isn't an RPG, you don't have to do favors for other people before they'll help you in necessary times!”
“Oiy, watch the fourth wall!” Goombach yelled.
And so they did.
“It's just a wall,” Yoshi noted.
“Indeed,” Parakarry affirmed.
“...Let's just move on.” Goombach said.
Parakarry took the forward position, taking off his shoes and socks.
“Oiy, Tickly Clefts!” Parakarry said, grinning. They all stared at him, “Come and catch me!”
Flying down a side path, the clefts took after him. Taking the opportunity, Yoshi and Goombach ran past.
Reaching the end of the path, Parakarry grinned to himself as he sat back against the rock wall. The clefts suspiciously approached.
Parakarry just wiggled his toes, “What, you don't want to have fun?”
The clefts immediately pounced on the opportunity, driving their vibrating spikes into his soles and over his shelled belly.
Parakarry was laughing hard already, tears of hilarity streaming down his face.
“Oh, THAT'S where I dropped the letters!” he remembered, the tickling having jogged his memory. Confident in their locations, he decided to just enjoy the laughter for the time being.
Yoshi continued to walk along the path, when suddenly, wild monty moles appeared!
The moles grinning to themselves, Yoshi took a defensive stance. He could see that they were being mischevious.
“Monty moles! They're mischevious critters! Those claws of theirs look extra tickly, so be prepared... you might be able to catch them and tickle one of them to submission, the others will flee if that happens!”
Yoshi nodded to himself. It seemed rather simple...
...until the Monty Moles went underground.
Looking around himself, Yoshi tried to be aware... but he was unable to protect himself when a mole leaped from behind him, landing on his back and digging his claws into Yoshi's sides. Yoshi laughed and tried to throw the mole off of his back, but another mole appeared in front of Yoshi, digging his claws into the Yoshi's white belly.
Laughing, Yoshi finally managed to throw the mole off of his back, the mole in front of him diving quickly. Before he could catch the first mole, that mole dove underground. Yoshi stood still, listening...
...rumble rumble...
With great timing, Yoshi spun around and grabbed a mole as it leaped into the air. Grinning mischeviously, Yoshi began to wiggle his claws into the monty mole's sides. Wiggling and laughing, Yoshi could hear the other monty moles retreat. Tickling the mole for a bit longer, he eventually let the poor guy go and escape.
...rumble rumble...
Yoshi turned turned around, and up popped some weird blue thing that brings the word “Diglett” to mind.
“WHACKOOOOOOOO!!” the creature yelled. Yoshi just stared at him. The creature began to jabber on about itself, but Yoshi decided to move on before he ended up hurting the thing.
“...That was a whacka, an extremely rare creature. It's endangered, actually...” Goombach noted.
“Don't care.” Yoshi said, moving faster.
GAME OVER VIEW!
Yoshi spun around to grab the Monty Mole, but he spun too soon. The Monty Mole, instead of leaping on his back, attacked his belly with its devious claws.
Yoshi laughed and stumbled back, only for another monty mole to leap on his back, raking its claws up and down his sides. Between the two of them, Yoshi began to get exhausted...
Suddenly, the ground caved out from under Yoshi, and he fell into a hole, wedging himself at the belly. He had fallen for a trick!
He could feel the monty moles undoing the straps of his sandals. As much as he tried to kick them away, they persisted, and eventually, the cool air of the underground flowed across his bare soles.
He gulped, waiting for the inevitable. Suddenly, he felt devious claws raking across his sensitive sole. Letting out a squeal of laughter, he tried hard to pull himself up, but he was utterly stuck! Soon, raking began at his other sole, digging into his arch, and tears of hilarity began to stream down his face. Too tired to struggle any longer, he remained stuck, laughing his heart out as his poor feet were being tortured. The claws even got under his toes, scritching at the sensitive flesh there.
And he loved it.
Eventually, the monty moles befriended him, and he joined them in their underground tunnels. They'd all tickle each other and have a ball, Yoshi still finding himself stuck in tunnels with his feet helpless to ticklish attack.
He failed his quest, but at least he had found some tickly friends!
STORY RESUME!
Coming to a rope bridge, Yoshi began to cross until some big buzzard swooped down in front of him.
“Heeyyyy...” the bird said, pulled out a piece of paper (while flying, no less) and putting it back once he'd taken a look at it. “You're Yoshi! Bowser has ordered me to take you down!”
Yoshi rolled his eyes.
“That's Buzzar! He's a mean bird, though he seems to be quite dedicated to protecting his wife's eggs. I guess even mean men have a soft spot,” Goombach said informingly, “Also, despite his feather down, he is quite ticklish. Try aiming for his talons!”
“Who ya calling soft!?” Buzzar yelled at him. Goombach quickly retreated, allowing Yoshi to fight the bird one-on-one.
Yoshi immediately jumped into the air, flutterkicking to try to get on top of Buzzar. Buzzar simply responded by flapping his wings as hard as he could, creating gusts of wind that blew into Yoshi, sending him back down to the ground.
Yoshi bounced after hitting the ground, slightly dazed. Buzzar took this opportunity by swooping down, digging his talons into Yoshi's belly.
Yoshi laughed and flailed, trying to get away from Buzzar's tickling talons, but the weird buzzard just grinned, keeping his claws at Yoshi's belly.
Eventually, Yoshi managed to break away, Buzzar taking into the air again.
“Hahaha! I've got the air advantage, and as you can see, I'm covered in feathers!” Buzzar said, grinning. “Let me show you them!”
With a flap of his wings, Buzzar dislodged a feather, which began to glow and flew straight at Yoshi. Unable to escape in time, the feather caught Yoshi on the belly, floating in the air and sweeping over his white scales. Squealing and laughing, Yoshi found himself batting at the feather, eventually managing to budge it.
“Again!” Buzzar said, sending another feather at Yoshi.
It was time to retaliate. Yoshi swept his tongue out, grabbing the feather and taking it into his mouth.
“Yeck!” Yoshi thought, commenting on the taste as he rearranged it in his mouth, sending it flying back at Buzzar.
Buzzar squawked in surprise, his own magic feather catching him on his talon, sweeping into the sole of it. Laughing, Buzzar fell to the ground, lying on his back and waving his wings helplessly about.
Yoshi nodded, “Come on, Goombach, while he's distracted!”
Running past the subdued bird, Yoshi and Goombach finally escaped down the mountain and into Dry Dry Desert.
GAME OVER VIEW!
Buzzar grinned, sweeping down and grabbing Yoshi by the arms, lifting him into the air.
“Ack! Hey! Lemme go!” Yoshi said, struggling.
In response, Buzzar used a claw from each talon and began to dig into Yoshi's armpits, tickling him while carrying him.
“AHAHAA! NOHOHOO!!” Yoshi cried, struggling more, but unable to escape the bird's tight grip. This kept going on until Yoshi found himself deposited in Buzzar's nest. Fast as lightning, the buzzard used the straw from the nest to bind Yoshi to the next, leaving just his feet exposed. Using his beak, he plucked the straps on the sandals until they came off, pulling the sandals off.
“H-hey!” Yoshi cried in protest, but soon turned to laughter as Buzzar began to scritch the tip of his beak up and down Yoshi's sole.
“You're mine now, Yoshi! You just lost the game!”
-
“Oh dear, I do believe I hear angry hammering on the fourth wall.” Goombach said to himself.
-
Yoshi squealed with laughter as Buzzar's beak relentlessly scritched over his soles, into his arches, and under his toes. Buzzar stopped, letting Yoshi catch his breath, before brandishing his wings.
“Y-you wouldn't dare!” Yoshi said, finding that he hoped that Buzzar WOULD dare.
“I dare.” Buzzar confirmed before sweeping the feathers of his wings over Yoshi's exposed soles. Yoshi's high-pitched laughter echoed through the valley.
STORY RESUME!
The desert was quite hot as they traveled through it. A city could vaguely be seen in the distance, but there was no way to tell how close it really was, the air shimmering from the heat.
“Oh... oh dear... I'm too... old for this...” Goombach said, panting.
“Nonsense! Why, I've seen koopas older than you cross this desert bravely!” a voice suddenly said.
Yoshi looked around. Apparently they had stumbled straight into the camp of an archaeologist. How convenient.
“I am Kolorado, explorer extraordinaire! And you are?”
“I'm Goombach. This is Yoshi.” Goombach said, Yoshi nodding.
“Well, you're on the right track. That city's not too far now. Be wary of happy bandits, tickleys, and tweesters, however.”
“Oh, I'm quite aware... wait, did you say tickleys? And happy bandits?”
Kolorado nodded, “Tickleys are a subspecies of pokeys that arrived recently. They seek to tickle and subdue unfortunate travelers. Drives them quite mad, wot wot. And the happy bandits are bandits that'll distract you with tickling while stealing your stuff.”
“Thanks for the warning. Well then, Yoshi, let's keep going. Perhaps we'll make it to the city by nightfall!”
Yoshi nodded. After a brief rest at the camp, they continued onwards towards the city.
Suddenly, they were ambushed by happy bandits, which resembled robed men with mask-like faces that could change expression.
“Hey, boys! Look, a Yoshi!” their leader said.
“I wonder how many coins he has!” another of the bandits said.
“Watch out, Yoshi! They'll steal your stuff!” Goombach said.
“I... I gathered, Goombach.” Yoshi noted, annoyed with Goombach's tendency to state the obvious sometimes.
Yoshi prepared for battle, but one of the bandits was right in front of him already. Before he could even react, the bandit's deft fingers wiggled into Yoshi's belly. Yoshi squealed and wiggled, not even noticing when the bandit's fingers reached into his inventory and pulled out one of his coins.
“Loot!” The bandit said, backing off a bit. Yoshi growled and prepared to take chase, but another bandit jumped on his back, deft fingers wiggling into his sides.
In addition to that, another bandit slipped his hands between Yoshi's feet and sandals, tickling at his soles!
Yoshi wiggled on the sandy desert, the torture only stopping when the bandits left him, carrying coins as well.
GAME OVER VIEW!
“Hey, boss... never met a Yoshi this ticklish before!” one of the bandits said.
“Indeed” their leader said, grinning. “I think... he's the ultimate loot!”
“YEAH! ULTIMATE LOOT!” His followers said. Between the three of them, they lifted the tired Yoshi up, carrying him back to their base.
“H...Hey wait! WAIT FOR ME!” Goombach said, following as quickly as he could.
Yoshi found himself in an underground base, the air inside refreshingly cool. The bandits quickly tied him to one of their chairs, his hands tied above his head. His sandals were respectfully unbuckled and slipped off of his feet.
The leader sat in front of him, grinning.
“Well, Yoshi, tell me this... do you like to be tickled?”
Yoshi gulped, blushing with embarrassment.
“Haha, look at his face! He does!”
“Well then... let's have fun!”
With that, the leader's deft fingers dove into Yoshi's soles, traveling over the soft scales and digging into his arches. Yoshi wiggled about, laughing hard, his tail wagging a bit despite himself.
Next, the two followers dug their fingers into Yoshi's pits, raking up and down those sensitive hollows. Yoshi squealed with laughter, arching his back and struggling in his bonds.
“Heh heh heh... don't worry... we take REAL good care of our loot...!”
As if to prove his point, the leader stopped tickling Yoshi's feet and begin to rub his fingers into the dinosaur's soles. Even with his armpits still being tickled, Yoshi could feel himself relaxing a lot.
Yoshi found himself quite pampered, despite his situation. A happy ending indeed, though premature still.
STORY RESUME!
Yoshi found the strength to stand up, growling at the bandits.
“Oh snap, retreat!” The leader said, but too late. Yoshi's tongue whipped out, slapping all of them. Forced to drop their loot, the bandits retreated. Picking up his coins and storing them in his inventory again, Yoshi sighed. That was an annoying encounter.
“Well, you scared them off at least. Shall we be on our way?” Goombach inquired.
Yoshi nodded. Continuing on their path, they eventually found themselves encountering their next obstacle.
Tickleys. While clearly related to pokeys, the different was evident. Large spikes had been replaed with feathers, while the spines had been replaced with a devilishly soft fuzz.
“Oh dear. Yoshi, be careful!” Goombach warned. Taking the battle position, Yoshi began his attack.
Yoshi carefully stepped forward, watching them closely, trying to formulate a battle plan. Finally, he decided on sticking his tongue out and wrapping it around one of the segments of the tickley. Grabbing it, he swept it off, flinging it into another tickley. It worked, as that tickley fell into pieces, dazed.
But he had not been careful enough, as one of the tickleys snuck up next to him. Hearing Goombach's warning too late, the tickley struck, driving a fuzzy segment into Yoshi's side, moving it back and forth. It tickled like mad! Yoshi stumbled back, right into another tickley, the fuzz tickling at his back. He was suddenly caught between the two of them, the fuzz tickling his belly and back as the segments slid back and forth! He was in trouble, and he would need quick thinking to get out of this.
Hooking his tongue out to a nearby boulder, he quickly pulled himself to safety. The two tickleys, losing balance, hit their heads against each other and clattered to the sand. The remaining tickleys retreated underground, outmatched by the green dinosaur.
“Let's go before they wake up!” Goombach said, the two of them hurrying for the nearby town.
GAME OVER VIEW!
Yoshi noticed that the two tickleys he was stuck between had begun to coil around him, pressing their fuzzy tickly segments more against him while shifting them. Laughing harder, he struggled more, but couldn't manage to get away from them. Soon, he was wrapped between them, just his sandaled ankles sticking out, a giggling mess of a dinosaur.
It got worse. Two more tickleys arrived, leaning down and grabbing Yoshi's sandals with their mouths, ripping them off. The next thing Yoshi felt was extremely ticklish fuzz pressing into his soles, and toes, even getting between them. Squealing louder with laughter, Yoshi eventually gave in, allowing the fuzz from the tickleys to tickle all over him. May as well enjoy it!
STORY RESUME!
They had finally arrived at the city. Which was actually more of an outpost. Dry Dry Outpost to be exact.
Yoshi made a beeline for the Toad House. After confirming a place to stay with the Toad inside, he climbed into bed and slept... and slept.
-
Goombach compiled his notes that he had taken. This had proven to be a very fortuitous encounter, meeting Yoshi.
Looking up at Yoshi, Goombach couldn't help but notice the dinosaur's feet sticking out from under the covers. Deciding to take an opportunity to try being a tickler out, Goombach took a feather from his collection, holding it in his teeth, and approached the foot of the bed.
Lightly sweeping the feather into Yoshi's arch, the sleeping dinosaur giggled, smiling in his sleep. The feather swept up to the ball of Yoshi's foot, Yoshi's toes wiggling lightly. Turning to the other foot, Goombach swept the feather under Yoshi's toes, the dinosaur letting out a light squeal. Yoshi never woke up once, but kept that smile on his face through the night even when Goombach was done tickling him.
“He really does enjoy this... I wouldn't be surprised if he thinks of this as a game,” Goombach thought to himself.
-
Waking up, Yoshi yawned and stretched, putting his sandals back on. He grinned at Goombach, “Morning!”
“You seem cheerful,” Goombach said, smiling.
“I had this neat dream last night... that Buzzar was playing with me and tickling me with a feather... and then he let me tickle him!” Yoshi said, smiling. “Maybe I'll go make friends with him when this is all done.”
Goombach smiled, “Sounds like a plan.”
Traveling through the busy market, Yoshi saw an alleyway that caught his eye. Walking down it, Yoshi found himself in front of a female fortune teller of sorts.
“Oh hello there, Yoshi...” the fortune teller said.
“Uh, how do you know my name?” Yoshi said, pointing to himself.
“For one thing, I may have simply been calling you a 'yoshi', since that is what you are. However, yes, I am referring to you by name. I know this because I am psychic.” she said, presumably smiling under the darkness of her hood.
“Wow!” Yoshi said, in astonishment.
“Oh hey, are you related to that wizard guy in Toad Town?” Goombach asked.
She nodded.
“Now then... I can bestow a blessing on you that will aid you in your time of need,” the fortune teller said. “Though I will have to ask for one thing in return...”
Yoshi thought to himself, “What is it? Money?”
She shook her head. “No, actually... I want to have a go at those cute feet of yours!~<3”
Yoshi blushed. Without a word, he undid his sandals and sat in a chair in front of the table, placing his feet on the table.
“Ahh! Yes, let's see...”
With that, her fingers began to carefully trace over Yoshi's soles, sending the dinosaur giggling. Teasing into the arches, she smiled (presumably) as Yoshi's toes wiggled about. Brushing her fingers up and down his toes made the dinosaur giggle quite a bit harder.
This gentle torture continued on for several minutes before the fortune teller ceased tickling.
“Alright, put your sandals back on. It is time to bestow a blessing upon you!”
Putting his sandals back on, Yoshi stood up as the fortune teller began to chant.
“GNIDAOL... GNIDAOL... EUNITNOC OT TRATS SSERP...”
Energy surged into Yoshi, storing itself away inside of his essence.
“There. <3 Now, go on, for great justice! Oh, and when you arrive at the eastern-most house of this outpost, tell a nomadimouse there, 'Feathers fly, liars lie, telling truths”
Yoshi left the fortune teller, somewhat weirded out.
Moving more through the marketplace, they eventually arrived at the eastern most house. Indeed, standing in front of it was a nomadimouse.
Yoshi cleared his throat, “Feathers fly, liars lie, telling truths.”
The nomadimouse just stared at him.
“...What? Someone told me to say that to you.”
“...The correct password is 'Liars lie, feathers fly, bringing truth.' But.. you would have to have known the password once to get it wrong... follow me.”
They followed the nomadimouse as he took them to the rooftops, entering a small roof room. The mouse turned to them, revealing his face.
“I am Moustafa. And you... are the chosen ones.”
“...Chosen what?” Yoshi said.
“You are the ones who will cleanse the evil out of the Dry Dry Ruins and allow us nomadimice to reclaim our ancestral legacy!”
“Ohhh, that kind of chosen,” Yoshi noted.
“Here is the map. Follow it, and place it where the mark is indicated. Then, the way to the temple will open.” Moustafa said, handing Yoshi a map. “Now go, and good luck!”
Leaving the outpost, there was only one thing Goombach could say...
“...Far too many convenient coincidences have occurred here. I do not like this place.”
Following the map, and avoiding more happy bandits and tickleys, they eventually arrived at a rock in the desert.
Shrugging, as the rock didn't look different from any of the other rocks, Yoshi placed the map on top of the rock. The rock and map both glowed, and a great rumbling occurred.
A giant pyramid was rising out of the sand!
...And that's basically all that can be said about it.
After 'ooh'ing and 'aah'ing at the sight of the large temple rising out of the sand, the two stepped inside, ready to face the dangers that lay in it.
Once inside, it wasn't even an entire hallway before they ran into problems.
More tickleys, only they looked somewhat shriveled and green in color. And they were coming out of sarcophagi.
“I'll presume that they're tickley mummies. Be careful, Yoshi! They look like they've got some sort of plague or poison or something!”
Yoshi nodded. Sticking his tongue out, he went ahead and wrapped his tongue around one segment, sending it into another of the tickley mummies and knocking it out.
Withdrawing his tongue, he could feel something... some kind of... tingling sensation covering his skin. He shivered. This distraction was enough for a tickley mummy to get at him, rubbing its fuzz and feathers into his belly. Laughing and leaping back, Yoshi shivered again. The venom in these things was making him more sensitive!
Growling, he realized that he had to do something and quickly, or else he would be rendered too sensitive to continue on. Leaping into the air, he delivered a swift sandaled flutter-kick to a tickley mummy, kicking its head off and into another tickley. Due to being segmented creatures, they were both simply knocked out and not killed.
Yet even that seemed to increase his sensitivity. He giggled a bit as things as simple as air shifting were starting to tickle. And there were still a few conscious tickley mummies left. He had to finish this in the next attack.
Brilliant!
His tongue whipped out and grabbed the hiding Goombach.
“H-hey! What are you d-doing!?”
Yoshi flung Goombach at the tickley mummies. He bounced off of each of their heads, knocking all of them unconscious.
“Ow! Underworld and Poison Mushrooms!” Goombach said, growling. “Why did you throw me!?”
“Are you more sensitive?” Yoshi asked.
“N-no... I guess I'm not. I suppose I'm immune to the poison. I understand, but ASK next time!” Goombach huffed, continuing on. Yoshi cautiously stepped past the unconscious tickley mummies.
GAME OVER VIEW!
Yoshi decided to try a multi-bounce attack. Leaping onto one of the tickley mummies, he came down, sandals first, and stomped it on the head.
This time, he could see the gas being visibly released. Leaping onto the next one, he got that, too.
Unfortunately, his skin began to tingle fiercely. Unable to keep his balance, he fell down. The air flowing past his skin tickled fiercely, and he was laughing when he hit the ground. Crawling into a corner, he couldn't stop giggling... the mere sensation of his sandals against his feet was torturing them! Without thinking, he unbuckled his sandals, kicking them off.
His skin was still tingling, and he was now so sensitive that every little move tickled. Looking up, he realized that there was still a conscious tickley mummy... and it was approaching his outstretched bare feet.
His eyes widened, and he made a move to escape, but the mere gesture sent ticklish spasms through his body. He was helpless to watch as it approached... closer and closer...
Eventually, its bottom-most segment pushed into his feet, the fuzz tickling over his hyper-sensitive soles. Yoshi screamed with laughter, clutching himself tight. And what's worse, his sensitivity was getting more intense! Soon, he could count each individual strand of fuzz as it forged a torturous path across his sensitive soles.
The tickley mummy stared down at him, a grin on its face.
Surprisingly, as extreme as the torture was, Yoshi was still having fun. Yoshi couldn't remember the last time he had this much fun! The quest pushed out of his mind, he let the tickling flow through him.
STORY RESUME!
In the next room, Yoshi still found himself giggling uncontrollably.
“Huh... seems like the poison hasn't worn off...” Goombach said. “Maybe try that Happy Refresh spell thingie?”
Yoshi nodded, reaching inside himself to call on the power. Blue starlings emerged, surging over his skin. Yoshi giggled, though he could feel the poison being drawn out of him. His stamina restored, and his body cleansed of poison, the starlings fly back to the sky.
“Onwards to adventure, then.” Goombach announced as they continued onwards.
The pyramid was filled with puzzles. Yoshi often found that he needed to move sand from one room to the room below it by pressing a switch. On and on they went, until they arrived in a dark room.
“Hold on, I've got a torch!” Goombach said. Yoshi used flint and steel to light the torch and held it aloft.
The light of the torch reflected in many, MANY bat eyes.
“SWOOPERS!” Goombach said, retreating into the previous room. Putting the torch in a sconce, Yoshi prepared himself for a battle.
A few swoopers swooped down towards Yoshi. Swinging and missing, Yoshi was surprised when a swooper got on his back. The swooper wiggled its long wing-fingers into Yoshi's side. Yoshi laughed, wiggling and trying to get the bat off. Another swooper landed in front of Yoshi's feet, nibbling at his exposed toes. More swoopers began to swoop down.
Yoshi finally managed to grab the swooper from behind him and launch it into the one at his feet. Swinging his tongue around like a long whip, Yoshi managed to slap several swoopers away. After their beating, they quickly retreated.
GAME OVER VIEW!
Yoshi fell over as more and more swoopers began to overwhelm him. Nibbling and clawing at his belly, toes, and sides, Yoshi was in hysterics, unable to distinguish which way was which anymore. Soon, they lifted him into the air, carrying him deeper into the dark of their nest. He soon found himself hanging upside-down from something wrapped, or maybe tied around his ankles. Teeth nibbled at his toes while winged fingers scraped over his belly. Squealing and laughing, Yoshi wiggled about, unable to get free.
“Hey! This is pretty fun!” Yoshi thought to himself. Much to the swoopers' delight, he even reached up, undoing his sandals and exposing his bare feet, which they gladly began nibbling at, exposing renewed squealing from the green dinosaur they held captive.
STORY RESUME!
Grabbing the torch again, Yoshi resumed his journey into the nest, the bats staying clear of him. He even noticed a few ropes hanging from the ceiling, and the ruins of various lamps and posts on the floor. Goombach followed closely, wary of the swoopers that eyed them.
Eventually, they managed to reach the other side. Heading deeper into the pyramid, they even acquired a relic. Deeper and deeper they went, until Yoshi arrived in a strange room.
“Huh... look at that chain chomp statue!” Goombach noted. Yoshi climbed up the steps, opening a chest. Inside was a stone tablet with a feather symbol on it.
“Huh...” Yoshi thought to himself.
“YOSHI!!!” Goombach screamed, fleeing out of the room. Turning around, Yoshi found out why Goombach had screamed.
The chomp statue had come to life, and it was staring at him. The creature struck lightning fast, its teeth nibbling into Yoshi's belly. Yoshi squealed loud, trying to push the stubborn creature away.
It relentlessly nibbled at his belly and sides, its stone “chain” starting to coil around him.
Yoshi had to act now. Reeling his head back, he gave the stone chomp a resounding headbutt.
The stone chomp released Yoshi, falling to the ground. Going back to its previous position, it became a statue again.
Sighing with relief, Yoshi left the room, the stone tablet in hand.
GAME OVER VIEW!
Before Yoshi could act, the stone chain had coiled around his arms and ankles, pinning his arms to his sides and his ankles together. As much as he struggled, he couldn't break the chain or discourage the stone chomp that was viciously nibbling all over his torso.
Trying hard to keep balance, Yoshi eventually lost it, falling on his back. Tearing the sandals off of his feet, the stone chomp nibbled ferociously all over the green dinosaur's feet, even on the soles of his flailing toes. Squealing and crying with laughter, Yoshi struggled more and more. Yet his laughter was as much jovial as it was ticklishness induced.
“This is another creature to take home as a pet!” Yoshi thought to himself, also deciding to bring back the clefts he had met the previous day.
STORY RESUME!
Deeper and deeper they went until they arrived at a stone door.
“Well, I can't lift heavy stone doors. What about you, Yoshi?” Goombach inquired.
Yoshi looked around. It didn't take long to find what he needed. There was a portrayal of a Bowser-like figure locked in a set of stocks, his mouth open wide with laughter. Though clearly an ancestor, the likeness was uncanny... and there was an indentation in front of his feet. Smirking at the simple puzzle, Yoshi placed the tablet into the indentation, the feathery side facing the Ancient-Bowser's feet.
With that, the door opened.
“...Well, admittedly, I'm a biologist, not an archaeologist,” Goombach said, grumbling.
Entering the room, a ghastly voice echoed through the room. A very familiar ghastly voice.
“BLEHEHEHEHEHEHHHH!! You've fallen right into my trap!”
A koopa wearing a pharaoh's robe and headdress appeared, floating above them.
“That voice... it sounds familiar...” Goombach noted to himself.
“You came all this way to the seat of my domain... I'll grant you that you made it past many tickly creatures... but your quest ends here, Yoshi!”
“Oh yeah? What are you going to do, cast spells at me? I've defeated magikoopas!” Yoshi boasted.
“What am I going to do? Why... I've already done what I was going to do? Bleh heh heh!” the koopa said. “I am Tutankoopa! Rue that name as you laugh your days away in Lord Bowser's personal dungeon!”
Yoshi just blinked. What?
Tutankoopa immediately chanted a spell, and Yoshi found out what he meant.
Yoshi's sandals began to glow lightly, and suddenly, the inside surface of the sandals began to attack Yoshi's soles, forming into brushes and feathers and sweeping over his captive feet.
Squealing with laughter, Yoshi tugged at his buckles, trying to undo them, but they had somehow become magically sealed.
“Yoshi! He's the sandal salesman!” Goombach said, having figured it out from the obvious clue of Yoshi's sandals turning against him.
Yoshi laughed hard, kicking his sandals against the stone floor and tugging hard at them, but the once delicate straps had become tough, unable to be snapped. Scrub brushes brushed back and forth across his arches, his heels felt mystic claws scraping over them, and it felt like tooth brushes were brushing over his toes.
“Hahaha! All I have to do is wait for you to laugh yourself unconscious. Once I ship you back to Bowser, he will surely bestow upon me greater power!”
Yoshi needed to think fast. The tickling was quickly draining his stamina. The spell prevented him from removing his sandals, but the spell didn't activate until Tutankoopa spoke it... perhaps stopping Tutankoopa would end the spell?
Yoshi managed to stand up, still laughing as the brushes seemed to dive deeper into his soles, tickling more.
“What? How can you stand up?” Tutankoopa said in wonderment.
“GOOMBAHAHACH!” Yoshi yelled in his laughter.
“Right!” Goombach said, jumping into Yoshi's tongue.
Despite his shaking body, Yoshi managed to hurl Goombach into Tutankoopa.
“WHAT-” Tutankoopa said before Goombach smashed into his face. Tutankoopa fell to the floor, unconscious. The tickling stopped. Yoshi sighed with relief, quickly unstrapping the sandals from his feet.
“That was close!” Yoshi said, then looked over at Tutankoopa. He quickly noticed an interesting thing... they had the same foot size.
Grinning to himself, he took Tutankoopa's sandals off of him, replacing it with the enchanted sandals that Tutankoopa had tricked him into wearing. In turn, he wore Tutankoopa's non-enchanted sandals.
Frowning, he realized now that Tutankoopa had designed them for appearance. They were extremely flimsy...
“Well, I guess when you float, you don't need to worry about stuff like that...” Yoshi thought to himself. “Hopefully, these will last until I get back to Toad Town.”
Taking the magic rod out of his inventory, Yoshi waited for Tutankoopa to wake up.
“Wh.. what!?” Tutankoopa said once he saw Yoshi standing over him.
“Give me the Star Spirit. Now.” Yoshi ordered.
“N-never!”
Yoshi smirked, tapping the sandals with the rod.
Immediatley, they sprung to life, scrubbing into Tutankoopa's soles.
His eyes widened, and he immediately began screaming with laughter, pounding the ground. For a good 15 minutes, he rolled around and laughed, trying to pull the sandals off, despite having made them to be irremovable when activated.
Soon, Yoshi tapped them again with the rod, turning them off.
“Okay, okay! I'll give her to ya!” Tutankoopa said, tiredly pulling a card from his robe. The card flew into the air and changed into a motherly star spirit with an old fashioned bow on her head.
“We won!” Yoshi said, raising a hand in triumph.
CHAPTER 2 COMPLETE!
GAME OVER VIEW!
Tutankoopa swiftly dodged Goombach being hurled at him. The tickling had gotten to be too much for Yoshi, and he fell on his back, laughing.
Tutankoopa smiled at him, “Lord Bowser will be most pleased...”
Yoshi's consciousness soon faded.
Yoshi came to in Bowser's throne room. He found himself chained by a collar to the throne, the sandals still on his feet.
Turning, he found himself face to face with Bowser's feet. Blinking and looking up, he saw Bowser grinning at him.
“Well, looks like I've won this game, Yoshi.” Bowser said, gloating. “And I've already mostly conquered the Mushroom Kingdom too, on the side.”
Yoshi sighed. He did indeed lose the game. Bowser chuckled.
“Oh, don't be sad... we both know you and I enjoyed it.”
Yoshi nodded, then blinked.
“Wait, YOU enjoyed it?”
Bowser nodded. “We're not that different, actually... other than you being a goody-two-shoes and me being the king of evil,” Bowser wiggled his toes to punctuate that remark, “So then... you do a good job, and you get rewards in return! You do a bad job, you get nothing and have to watch others get what you would have been rewarded with.”
Yoshi felt at his collar a bit. The inside was padded. For becoming a “tickle slave”, Bowser sure was treating him well...
“Now get to it.”
Yoshi blinked, staring at the huge feet in front of him. A mischievous grin on his face, and he began to dig his claws into the king's large soles, wiggling up and down them, the king's laughing flooding through the room. Yoshi dug his claws in under Bowser's toes, the king roaring loudly, his toes flailing.
At the end of his session, Bowser turned the sandals on, which began to rake Yoshi's soles much like he raked Bowser's. Writhing on the floor in laughter, Yoshi smiled internally.
Hey, sometimes, you win by losing!
STORY RESUME!
-
Bowser wanted to be angry. He really did.
Yet he had to admire the ingenuity of Tutankoopa's craftsmanship. If Tutankoopa hadn't been so focused on gloating, he might've won that encounter.
“Lordship, you look rather... bemused.” Kammy said.
“I am. I think... I shall spare Tutankoopa his punishment.”
“Oh? That's not like you,” Kammy said, “Are you sure you don't want to do something?”
Bowser thought to himself. Kammy had a point...
“Prepare him for the brainwashing chamber. Make him as tickle-hungry as I am.”
“Kyahaha! That's more like it, boss!” Kammy said.
“And after that... make him design some of those enchanted sandals for ME.”
“Of course, your lordship.” Kammy said, smiling.
Ever since Bowser had gone on those adventures, his disposition improved greatly. Yet he was still Bowser, King of Evil... just a happy king of evil. It really warmed her heart to see him so happy lately.
Tutankoopa was escorted down to a room and placed in a set of stocks.
“Please! No! Mercy!” Tutankoopa cried, panicking.
Kammy laughed, “Mercy? Mercy is for the weak! Oh, but don't worry... you'll be much happier when we're done here!”
Tutankoopa gulped. He knew what would happen to him... but he had to admit... in a way, his wish was coming true.
He had always been hyper-ticklish, and he often envied those who enjoyed being tickled. That was one wish he was hoping Bowser would grant if he succeeded... “I supposed brainwashing works, too,” he thought to himself.
With this in mind, he stopped whimpering and whining, sitting in his stocks.
“There, that's a good lad! I'll make sure you get rewarded quite handsomely for being cooperative.”
Whipping up a magic spell, Kammy produced two special feathers, which had rainbow glowing around them. They began to sweep across Tutankoopa's feet.
He began to laugh, struggling in his stocks.
Yet as he laughed and complained, the feathers began to affect his mind... over time, the sensations that he once hated became desirable... as the feathers sawed between his toes, he went from being in agony to being in heaven.
All too soon, the torment ended. He let out a cry of complaint.
“Now then, Tutankoopa... our king needs some of those special sandals you made, fitted for his own gloriously large feet. Are you up to the task?”
Tutankoopa's eyes lit up.
“Yes! Anything to serve my king in such a manner!”
“Excellent... kyahahahaha!”

“Excellent... kyahahahaha!”

fantastic story. Since the next chapter takes place in the Forever Forest, Boo mansion, and tubba blubba's castle, maybe you can do something with the pirhana plants, fuzzies,(forever forest) boos, (mansion) hyper goombas, the clubbas, and the "unticklable" Tubba Blubba(the rest of the level)
