something inspired by study for a self-portrait—triptych, 1985-86. not entirely directly, i just got infatuated with the piece and felt the drive to make a thing not really all that similar to it. this one was very weird to deal with. l've been wanting to do something lineless for a bit, but i really liked how it looked both with and without them. i didn't like how it was turning out with my thicker outlines tho. still i'm quite happy with it, i think a fair bit of what i do feels like it's made with self isolation in mind and this feels sufficiently lonely to me.
