The Meowstic gulped nervously, his flashlight floating in a telekinetic field as he glanced back and forth. His hands clenching at each other just to have something to do. He really regretted taking the nightshift security job now. After three months of literally no incidents, he had grown complacent and even relaxed at his job. He just hoped his superior didn't come down on him too hard after all this was said and done.
The gruff Granbull in question growled, as if sensing he was thinking about him. He couldn't see his face from behind him, in the dark, but could easily picture the scowl on his face. He had never been the most warm of pokemon, but now... he was fuming.
The museum hadn't been without its share of problems, some bigger than others, but it had been lucky to get the privilege of hosting a newly discovered artifact. The prestige and fame, in the relevant communities at least, would have been a financial boon to the museum. But all of that was in jeopardy now.
"Where are you..." the Granbull growled out ahead of him, his flashlight sweeping back and forth before him. "You can't have gone far."
The alarm had gone off no more than ten minutes previous, the thief that had stolen the... whatever it was had to still be in the building. But where could she be?
--
Zira sighed through her nose, looking down as the two guards passed beneath her far too slowly for her liking.
Her hand steadied the nearby light, holding unnaturally still thanks to years of practice. The sealed scroll rested in her mouth, tasting of dust and the ages; she had no concern for damaging it, the magic inherent in it would protect it from nearly all damage. Not that anyone but her realized it, nor of the thing sealed within it. Absolution had made it clear that the being, though not the most powerful of its kind, would cause a lot pain and suffering should anyone open and read it.
Hence why she was here, clinging to pipes and waiting for the two beneath her to pass. The fewer who knew what artifacts like this were capable of, the better; and it gave her yet another item for her own collection. She couldn't wait to return home and add it.
If only the guards would move on; this was getting insanely dull.
