Today marks the 30th Anniversary of "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie", released on June 30, 1995. As you can see, I've got Matt Gaufur posing with my Blu-Ray copy. And to add the full effect, I bought some purple ooze (Ivan's Ooze) to cover my fist, like Billy in the movie when he exclaims, "You ooze, you lose".
I was 9 years old when I first saw the movie in theaters. And yes, I was a massive Power Rangers fan when I was in elementary school. I collected the toys, and even took martial arts lessons (Tae Kwan Do). So naturally, I was very hyped to see. Sure it's campy, silly, and cheesy...but it's great stuff. And the film's soundtrack is top notch, with songs by Devo, Shampoo, and of course, Van Halen's "Dreams" — one of the best songs ever. Even the "Go Go Power Rangers" theme song was given a more heavy-metal sound for the movie, and it's awesome.
Worth checking out if you're in the right mood.
