While another mean to travel from one area to another, caves and other undergrounds are usually highly abundant in stones and ores of metals, usually common ones (copper, bronze, iron, steel). Careful when you rely on long distance weapons though. Without lumination or other means to see through darkness, caves can become pure horror of nature no matter what or who lives in particular ones.
