Vorastrix-Class Battlecruiser
Designation: NCV (Novarch Coalition Vessel)
The Vorastrix-Class is a heavy long-range battlecruiser built by the Novarch Coalition in 2885 A.E. for front-line fleet domination, blockade enforcement, and heavy orbital bombardment. Designed under joint engineering between Aelvarian shipwrights and Lucarnian metallurgists, this ship wasn’t made to look pretty as, it was made to win wars.
The ship’s hull is forged from Temparium Alloy, a dense composite of refined neosteel, heat-absorbent carbitex plating, and a reactive nano-fiber lattice that automatically stiffens under kinetic impact. The outer armor features layered ablative plating, allowing it to shrug off plasma strikes and glancing railgun shots with minimal structural damage. The underbelly of the vessel and engine housing are protected by reinforced titanium-carbon mesh, known for resisting both explosive shrapnel and laser burns over time.
Carrying 15 engines for speed, the Vorastrix-Class cruises at 0.08c (8% the speed of light) in subspace under full thrust, powered by its twin VX-Delta Ion Fusion Drives. It also carries a ZT-55x Hypercore, which allows it to enter hyperspace after a standard charge cycle of 9 minutes. Emergency jumps can be forced in 4 minutes, though this risks overloading the core and frying local nav systems. This cruiser was built with extended hyperspace range in mind, capable of inter-system jumps up to 36 light-years in a single leap.
For weaponry, the cruiser carries:
12 Primary Dual-Barrel Plasma Batteries:
Mounted along the dorsal spine, these slow-rotating behemoths fire heavy-phase plasma bolts, capable of melting through standard capital-ship hulls. These batteries require a brief 4-second recharge between volleys, and are mainly used against cruisers, stations, or hardened planetary targets.
32 Secondary Dual-Barrel Auto-Turrets:
Faster and more reactive than the primary batteries, these weapons are armed with superheated ionized slugs that tear through light cruisers, freighters, or corvette-class vessels. The turrets can track agile targets, but fire at a reduced plasma yield for energy efficiency.
2 Bombardant Cannons (Wing-Mounted):
These enormous, under-mounted cannons are gravity-stabilized mass drivers capable of launching planet-cracking ferro-thorium shells. Primarily used in siege or orbital suppression roles, the bombardants fire only once every 2 minutes due to recoil dampening cycles and reloading systems.
69 Anti-Aircraft Guns:
These are rapid-fire, high-velocity plasma flak cannons with onboard auto-targeting linked to the ship’s AI core. Built to counter fighters, drones, and boarding craft, they lay down withering zones of suppressive fire.
250 Long-range Anti-Air Missiles
20 ‘Howler-Class’ Cruise Missiles:
Equipped with adaptive heat-seekers, ion-radar locking, and a manual override target designation system, these missiles can curve around debris and track even shielded targets. Each carries a warhead payload with magnetized explosive cores, strong enough to rip through smaller cruisers or cripple a capital ship’s subsystems.
Incase of emergency vacation,62 Escape Pods are within the cruiser. Each pod is capable of carrying up to 5 individuals, loaded with short-range distress beacons and enough life-support for 48 hours. They’re auto-ejected based on hull breach protocols or manual override.
The ship houses 40 fighters in its lower hangar bay, divided into four squadrons. These typically consist of Aelvarian-engineered interceptors and Lucarnian close-support fighters, allowing for both fast strikes and atmospheric deployment roles.
The Vorastrix-Class is often found at the head of major Novarch fleets, used to establish dominance in contested systems. This 22-deck and 1,200 meter long cruiser can carry roughly 60,000 to 75,000 tons of cargo and 6,500 crew when at full capacity. Its mix of brutal firepower, reinforced armor, and strategic utility make it a nightmare to any force standing in its way.
