I couldn't resist drawing another Wings of Fire artwork. This time, I drew Peril and Queen Scarlet's notorious arena.
This is an arena where prisoners of war are forced to fight to the death in gladiatorial combat. If you win five fights, Queen Scarlet will set you free. Unfortunately, your fifth fight is always against Peril. She's never lost a fight. Good luck!
On book 15 now, almost read them all!

Why thank you, Mont. E. Zuma! This is the closest I think I've gotten to the sort of style I'm trying to go for, and I'm really happy with how it turned out. A really vibrant, well-lit, but expressive style that's not too realistic looking. Glad you like my work, and thanks for the nice comment!
Oh yeah I think Queen Scarlet and the arena scenes in book 1 were one of the darkest parts of the whole series. It really sets the tone for the rest of the books - this world is dark, cruel, violent, brutal, and full of sadistic tyrants around every corner. And yes, I loved Peril. Omg book 8 was so good!
Very nice! I always love the details you put in these.
There are so many dragons in the background! I am very impressed! I struggle a lot with little small detailed things. also, your dragon anatomy is so good!
I also like the pose of the opposing dragon, and how it is in the perspective of the sandwing dragon.

omg it took me forever to draw all those guys. And thanks! I looked at a lot of big cat anatomy for the forearms and shoulders to get the built upper body predatory look. I like to try and make the shoulders clearly not huma. And yeah, poor Horizon. I was thinking about putting more of him in the foreground at one point but ended up with just his tail.
