X1 "Feline" Exosuit - Second exosuit pattern developed
Designed for infiltration, sabotage and diversion missions, the aim was minimalising weight and energy usage while retaining the increased strength and endurance granted by the X2.
Once again using the X2 as a basis, the suit was stripped of as many "non-essential" elements as possible.
The artificial muscles were stripped off of their Kevlar lining, their layering reduced down from two to one, with removal of some sections entirely if they granted only minimal benefits.
The resulting weight reduction makes the suit comfortable to wear even when unpowered with negligible loss to ergonomics and physical capabilities of the wearer, still allowing for the user to easily scale walls, grant a massive advantage in close quarters and perform prolonged infiltration missions whilst avoiding exhaustion.
The obvious downside to this load-lightening is drastically reduced protection area, with some areas not being covered at all, showing fur and skin underneath the suit, and protection capabilities, with even small sidearms being able to damage deal, albeit still mitigated, damage.
To offset this a small-form-factor plate carrier is often issued along with the exosuit to provide additional protection to the users vitals.
Additional equipment often issued with the suit are:
Lightweight Tactical rig
Knee and elbow pads
Strengthened feet and foot claws to help with climbing and unarmed combat
Rope and Grappling hook
Sidearm and assorted accessories
Other two technologies developed alongside are the Refolder-Blade and the IICD (Improved Inflitration Cloaking Device).
The former being a small blade, ranging from 7cm to 14cm, that while unsheated uses a combination of micro-vibrations and
nanomachines (often refered to by the troops as "tech magic") to constantly re-fold and re-sharpen the edge. At it's absolute best in optimal conditions the blade is said to cut straight through most available forms of body armour. That however requires a complete vacuum as at a certain point the blade starts to dull even when passing through the air
The IICD on the other hand is a defensive implement taking the shape of a cloth (often a helmet mounted veil and cape/poncho) that while powered diverts lightbeams around it. The resulting effect can be described as "pseudo-invisibility", making the cloak appear as "smudged up" background it's placed in front of. Altough quite noticeable up close, in low-visibility conditions and at a distance, it provides a substantial increase to the time required to notice and spot, especially if crouched and stationary.
