Guide and Wolf
Mystic Creations 2011
Recently I got to a shamanic Tools workshop. One of the people there had the spirit of wolf as well as their guide walking there beside them.
They lead a beautiful pipe ceremony it was nothing short of amazing. Every word although spoken in a language I do not know, was spoken with such passion and belief that the language in itself did not matter.
Over the weekend I was working on many things and this person's animal spirit was there to aid me. Shortly after the workshop - 2 weeks or so, I had a dream where the person in their wolf form and their guide. A large black wolf with amber eyes spoke to me and taught the importance of making shamanic tools. Everything from collecting the materials to giving thanks to spirit. They spoke to me across a fire ceremony fire, there were other wolves. It was a symbol of community. Because of the lessons that the individuals wolf form and their guide shared, I felt that I wanted to give something back. I selected a small rock, or I should say it selected me. I then mediated on wolf energy, thinking back on the intense dream lesson and listened to recordings of wolf howling. I also gathered some reference pictures that best suited these two particular wolves. It felt as if I had been painting for hours. I am NOT a painter and it took at least 3 times to get the colouring 'right' on the light wolf. Turns out I actually was only painting for an hour and a half! Once done I looked at the image, the feeling and energy of that night sitting and learning from the wolves envelops this rock. No its definitely not the best painting ever! but that was not the goal. Every different angle of holding the rock gives the two wolves a different expression. I showed the piece to my partner and she also agreed she mentioned that the orange colouring on the light wolf made her think of a fire. I hadn't thought of it on purpose at the time but now looking back at the rock its impossible to see it any other way. The photos do not do this piece justice. The light wolf looks far less like Coyote in real life, the camera has distorted some things. However I feel the best photo energy wise is the one where I am holding the rock. The other photo is to show it by itself and one more to show what size the rock is, there is a dime beside it.
I plan on wrapping the rock up in a small piece of wolf hide, bound with red string. I hope the person who unknowingly has aided me so much will be able to accept this gift without getting to creeped out. I will take a another picture once I have it all ready to go.
Medium Mixed: Rock, Citadel Paints , Gloss Varnish and Matt Varnish.
