I am building a new group of characters who will be crew members of the commercial starship "Phoenix". Their story will be starting soon.
These are Loander and presaith - two Faleshkarti - an alien species that resemble fennec foxes. They are about twelve Terran years of age, which means that they are at the beginning of their professional careers. Faleshkarti start their careers very young because they are extremely fast learners, and they have to squeeze in as much as possible into their careers before they hit sexual maturity. For the reason why, please read my story - And The Children Shall Lead. Loander is the ship's comptech and shi handles comms too. Presaith is Engineer 2nd.

This takes place in the period between when Leanna visited the Faleshkarti homeworld, and when a workable medication was developed. The complexity of the problem was such that the treatment wasn't confirmed as being totally safe for over three years since they started the research, although the first versions were tested in about 18 months.
It isn't exactly open slather yet. Loander and Presaith are amongst a group who are gathering the first impressions and learning about the Federation first hand. That is why they were placed by the Star Corps rather than them just going out and finding jobs. Talks are still continuing between the Federation council and the Faleshkarti authorities, but as both sides are both intending to reach a mutually satisfactory arrangement, neither is rushing things. Remember that it's four years after Leanna's visit that Daisha comes visit hir as the official Faleshkarti envoy.
