1st out of 2 at the party 2025 Combined Graphics Compo (June 21, 2025)After last year's Surveyor, I knew I needed to send an ANSI art entry to the following year's party, and yet, with how busy my life was at the time, party 2025 just sort of snuck up on me. No problem: just like I did last year's entry in around two hours on the day before the party, I did my 2025 entry in a little over one hour on the first day of the demoparty, while attending a listening party for Leilani Wilson's Elancia - Symphony of Shifting Tides Redux. What a typically demoscene thing to do!
Fortunately, I already had a vivid mental image for what I wanted to draw by the time I sat down, so the act of drawing it didn't take too much effort, and the process of refining it didn't take much effort either.
No, the weird part was when the competition ran with just my entry and a photo submission, and it turned out, by sheer coincidence, the photo also depicted a nature scene with a lizard! The photographer also wanted to withdraw his entry from competition because he'd missed the Graphics Compo rule that photos were not allowed, but it was kept in presumably because any competition is better than none at all. At any rate, I wound up winning anyway, scoring 60% of the vote from participants and attendees. Not bad for something I drew in just an hour and change, huh?
