i'm continuing to work through the backlog of sketches I've accumulated during 2023 and 2024!
these were a series of quick sketches of my character, Ashkin, inspired by this song, Tear Garden by IAMX ♡ the song title is most likely a reference to the german 'tiergarten' (zoo). i'm a long-time fan of the artist, and my dream came true in 2023 when i got to see them live in Utrecht! that was an unforgettable (and unexpectedly sensual) experience ✧˚ · .
i took inspiration from certain scenes and images in the music video, and it only seemed fitting to use my wolfie character for this, since the video uses a lot of wolf-related imagery. the wolf pelt coat he's wearing is a bit alarming... \(˚☐˚”)/ i didn't consider the dark implications of that choice. while my Ashkin is not a particularly angry chap, trying my hand at the intimidating facial expressions was a fun change of pace! (ᵔ⩊ᵔ)
when i came across this sketch a few days ago, my initial impression upon seeing the bottom-right sketch was that i'd drawn fan art of Legoshi from Beastars, but this sketch actually predates my viewing of the series...subconscious influence i guess!
