shadravi Summer soltice. Blessed time of Light. How I have always loved you, ever since I was a child collecting flowers for wreaths and some to put under my pillow so I would dream about the love of my life. Back then I called you Midsummer, now its Litha. And yet, I often call you Midsummer out of habit. It's close, its lovely, its part of me.
The brightest time of the year. The longest day and the shortest night. A time where the sun never truly sets and the sky never gets fully dark, just a pale gray with a pink stripe at the horizon. I could not rest that night, so instead I went out into the woods and had close encounters with both deer, bunnies, a baby fox and a lynx. As I returned home I sat down on the porch and watched the sun rise, a mere 2-3 hours after it set. Next to me was freshly caught fish from the sea, to be enjoyed the next day along with pea porridge with barleycorn. I love historic/medieval cooking.
Now the Midsummer time is over, but I had some wonderful celebrations. So here we see me - the dragoness Valcyrie - sitting outside her cave, watching in peace as the sun sets and rises again. A serene moment of stunning beauty. She closes her eyes, lifts her head into the wind and croons on a melody, slowly wagging from side to side. This is... home.
I really love the sunglow through the wings? I can feel the warmth of it just by looking at it~
