Got to love the classic "big mouth, no brain" look!
I don't think I've ever heard of this tradition, but I feel like there are more local variations every time I hear about Walpurgisnacht.
As for kinky hair, I usually do what I do with all hair, and cheat by drawing it in silhouette. I think your method here works pretty well!

It's not a walpurgis tradition per se, just a thing stupid kids do when they're bored in a park or something, just a nice way to keep from getting bored for a few hours. But we can make it one!
