The bat could barely contain his excitement, after waiting weeks for his special order to arrive, it was finally at his doorstep. Picking up the package, the bat skipped into his living room as he tore the box open with his claws, revealing the $900 machine he had saved up for. The Balloonachine 2000! An automated pump that uses recycled plastics and rubbers to mold and blow balloons of varying colors within seconds.
One of the batโs biggest problems was his long talons, which would result in him accidentally popping his balloons on Asian when partaking in his inflatable-loving hobby. Sick of having to constantly order new balloons after popping the ones he had already bought, he had purchased this device in hopes of solving his conundrum. Instead of constantly having to replace his balloons, he could simply recycle whatever plastic he had lying around to create new ones.
With an excited high-pitched squeak, the bat went through his recycling and took whatever plastic bags, containers, or whatever he could find and fed them into the machine until it was full.
Closing the hatch, he pressed the button and turned the knob on the side, bringing the machine to life. It sounded like a vacuum cleaner, followed by the sounds of bubbling liquid, likely breaking down and melting the plastics. After waiting with burning anticipation for a solid 10 seconds, a pastel pink balloon began emerging from the nozzle with a soft hissss. The bat impulsively waved his arms up and down, flapping his wings excitedly while watching the balloon expand. The rubber started thinning out, becoming semi-transparent until separating from the machine with a soft snap. The balloon was about 3 feet in diameter, gently bobbing in the air with a little tied knot at the end.
The bat snagged the balloon in his claws before it could even touch the ground, being careful not to dig his claws into the rubber as he squished it with his palms. Despite being made of recycled plastic, it smelled so clean and brand new, even kind of sweet like lavender. The machine must have had some kind of cleaning or perfuming function to get this fresh scent. The balloon felt so incredibly soft, firm enough to maintain its rounded shape, but squishy like a marshmallow, like a balloon that was only partly inflated. With a deep breath, the bat buried his face in the balloon as he gave it a big hug, feeling it squish against his body like a cushy pillow.
All the while, the machine continued to rev with life, left on as it began to issue a small white balloon from its nozzle. The bat was far too infatuated with his pink balloon to notice the sound of inflating rubber, until he felt the soft surface press up against his rear. The bat let out of squeak as he looked behind him, seeing the new balloon rapidly inflating until it was half as big as he was. The flexible rubber quickly began to fold around him, enveloping him almost like a large Venus flytrap with his pink balloon still in hand.
By the time he realized what was happening, he was tightly squished in the rubbery folds of the white balloon, which had grown large enough to enclose him completely. The pink balloon had been squished into his face, with his arms forced to hug it tighter as the white orb squished him. Normally, a situation like this would've caused panic, but the bat was so baffled at his current predicament, he could barely believe it was happening.
POP!
Almost as soon as it began, the squeezing finally stopped. The bat quickly lost his footing as he felt the surface roll underneath him, falling on his back as a film of stretchy rubber broke his fall with a gentle bounce. The bat simply lay speechless, as he found himself now inside the white balloon, floating a foot above the floor, along with his pink balloon still in his arms. The room had taken on a bit of a foggy tint through the white rubber, as if a curtain had been draped around him. The bat wiggled around a bit, trying to sit back up, only to find himself slipping and sliding along the smooth, frictionless surface. Even as he managed to brace himself, the balloon would simply roll underneath him, keeping him lying at the bottom.
Oddly, though, the bat found himself giggling as he fumbled within his new prison. Hugging his pink balloon, he continued to squirm and struggle, finding that even the talons on his feet couldn't pierce the balloon. The balloon gently carried him as if he weighed nothing, bobbing and bouncing above the floor as if lying in a rubber hammock. In the past, the bat had indulged in some climb in balloon antics from time to time. But never before had he been truly contained, much less cradled in the air.
The bat was in no hurry to leave his balloon, and allowed himself to float within his new rubber toy as he cuddled the pink bubble in his arms.
Meanwhile, with no more plastic to recycle, the machine had shut itself down, leaving the room silent with only the soft squeaks of the giggling bat and his balloons.
He wound up being stuck in the ball for another six hours before his roommate came home to help him out.
