Delta is use to swallowing...I mean cataloging new species of creatures in his travels. So upon encountering a creature who calls himself Gazimon, we'll the protogen fell upon his programming/habit of performing full body scan.

Which was encouraged when said digimon tried not only stealing his food rations but also tried attacking him. But...that's just cliff note in the reports.
