I had started these sketches years ago and kept finding and losing them and finding and losing them. Finally I found them again and I'm sending them to the author x__x
Left pic: Sinkalip/New Coyote admires his new teeth in the bathroom mirror. Nice choppers!
Right pic: Old Coyote and Wolf plot against Sinkalip/New Coyote while he lays on the vet table, a little worse for wear. Way to talk about him like he's not there guys.
If you guys haven't read the book ("New Coyote" by Michael Bergey) yet, you really really should. It's one of my favorites and the author is very nice.

Oo there's a third in the works? I admit, the second one didn't much do it for me, but I also don't really enjoy stories of a spy-esque/we're running away from the authorities genre so its personal preference and I think it was that influence that kind of turned me off, but the first book is in one of my top 10 all time favorites.
There is a third in the works. Considering the title and the general setting of the series so far, it sounds as if New Coyote is going to cause the downfall of the U.S.S.R. and thus bring an end to the cold war. I hope I'm wrong, though, because I consider it a bad sign when I can deduce the plot from just the title.
Hm..doesn't sound like my thing just by that summary, but I'll check it out when it's out and decide :) But yeah I agree with you, however, he is also the type of guy who's not too shy about posting entire portions of the book for free for folks to read so, I assume he's just giving us a real-time glance at the book as it progresses XD
i just picked up this book and already devoured half of it within 12 hours reading time.
loving it so far.
currently in the barn with Mr. Burrey telling a story to Coyote as he catches a rat. also ordered the coyote season book and waiting for that one to come in mail. also makes me want to draw some coyotes ^_^

quickxyk pointed out the book and its author walking around at Rainfurrest 2013 a few weeks ago in Seattle. made me excited as i am also writing a few different projects ( with illustrations ) which all happen to feature unique takes on different powerful Coyote characters within them.
poked him online after realizing we both had a mutual coyote friend online from Germany named Terak (Sivel) whom i did a quick doodle for. kind of a reoccurring gag in my head that coyotes are immune to cacti. good scratching posts ^_^

Was quite a surprise to bump into him in person at a con, but then i don't get to go to cons much so meeting people online then in person is a rarity for me.
Anywho, odd friendly stranger babble out of the blue; but saw you also adored the book so i thought i would say hi. I keep expecting things to go horribly wrong but so far the story has a sort of "outsiders" or "chrysalids" vibe. again though i keep expecting things to go horribly wrong. murder your darlings and all ^_^. I guess as an author i strive to create characters and then make everything go wrong because you cant have a story without conflict. Though i am enjoying this story as it is intriguing so far without all the grim tones i often put in my own writing.
in my main novel series coyote plays the role of Karon, the ferryman to the dead with some interesting ties to other roles in myth he serviced. In my graphic novel series he is the most powerful earth spirit, (sort of inspired by the coyote in Gunnerkrigg Court), in a technology vs supernatural story. while in my interactive media project he is more of a dangerous trickster in the place where ghosts reside, an unborn who is not good or evil but plenty of chaos. Sort of the role of the temptation to sin in the Pinocchio story. if any of this sounds of interest to you check out http://www.gunnerkrigg.com/ which has its own unique version of coyote.
i am going to guess with a name Thornwolf, i would guess your character is a wolf? either way, drawing wolves and coyotes is what i seem to do best so if you like i could draw you a doodle too.
