This is a drawing I did a while ago that I just recently rediscovered. I meant to, at the time, to do more detailing on the foreground buildings, work at the river and render a sky. After doing one drawing to the next I slowly forgot about it. ^\/^.
I last worked on it back in November of last year and was thinking about even adding Christmas decorations to the picture to make it a Christmas time like scene. After finding it again in a pile of drawings and other art, I realized it looked good as it is and should be left as is and scan it in already. LOL. ^\/^.
The triangles at the bottom were meant to be a reference for a relief like stonework for the water to gracefully flow down on. The idea came from watching a History Channel show on the Mughal empire and one of its signature palaces that had a man made waterfall at the end of a man made stream that had relief stonework on it that, when water flowed down it, made a pleasing and relaxing sound. Never could find that particular thing again on the net to get an idea of what the stone was supposed to look like to replicate it. LOL. ^\/^.
The neighborhood that D. Dan is in is a shopping / art district in the south end of the capital. It is noted for, besides the obvious art and shopping, the intricate and numerous amount of narrow and shallow man made rivers, waterfalls and ponds formed in a network. ^\/^.
The network of these rivers makes small islands that break up the large shopping and art district and is connected by quaint and artsy little pedestrian bridges and tunnels all around. The little islands are filled with many stores, art studios, cafes, restaurants, small parks and gardens. The sound of water flowing and lack of traffic makes this area a popular place to go to relax and wind down from the usual busyness of the main city such as the commercial district, the edge of which can be seen in the background. ^\/^.
