I feel like they weren't npcs in her perspective... At least not until they proved her fears right by showing no emotion to her that showed they cared about her and not themselves.

Whenever I see ‘You only get one set of parents’ bs it makes me sick.
Not everyone gets the parents that actually respect them, or even love them.
So many people are parents merely because they created a child, not because they wanted one.
MOST people do get at least halfway decent parents, or hopefully at least parents who TRY, even if they suck at it.
