More ar tfrom 2012! This time some art of Thirteen, sans his markings and spectral wings. This was part of a ref I never finished, but I like how I did his fur here! It was also an attempt at showing what he looked like before any gene editing took place, and before his novoxic traits grew in. Thirteen's bone markings are actually not something he was born with, but rather an attempt at local gene modification by the scientists at GeNtech- it was the same technician that used a similar technique to provide Twenty Five's more graffiti like markings later, tinkering with variable gene expression regarding pigments. Here with Thirteen, it was a matter of turning off any pigment producing genes in his fur in select locations- hence the white, skeletal like markings, to match his existing bony mutation on his face- the technician in question is a bit artistic, and had always wanted to be a tattoo artist, which might explain the creativity. Thirteen's skeletal wings didn't show up until later- they were likely, at least to my knowledge, not something that was coded for specifically- he already had the genes for novoxic traits, which are what his tailflame and little ankle flames are, and the cool thing about novoxia is it's a bit weird, and given that Thirteen had already fully rolled with and embraced being a bit spooky, it seems as if there might be some subconscious pull as to the direction that novoxic shapes might take on when manifesting later in life. (This would have happened with LV if I'd ever gotten there in the shop, but that's a story for another time.) A different technician once put a little halloween collar on Thirteen with a little ghost charm on it and he loved it, and there's no way they don't give him extra candy corn as a treat around Halloween.
