Joll-O the Gelatin Monkey (OC - Gerty's Creation)
The urge to make a sixth character to go with the group Arlette, Dud, Pepper, Berri, and Gerty had been stuck in my brain for a while. And, after doing some heavy processing, I finally came up with a character.
Meet Joll-O the gelatin monkey! He looks like a sock monkey cause that's what I was going for.
Inspiration from a couple of characters from other media was put into making him.
1. The body texture takes inspiration from Googi from Luigi's Mansion 3.
2. His role takes inspiration from Baymax from Big Hero 6.
3. Aesthetics take inspiration from Kumacy from One Piece. (No, I don't watch the anime.)
Joll-O was created by accident by Gerty, the guinea pig. A mixture incident ended up sparking her curiosity, and drives her to continue working on it until eventually, she created a large, human-sized, gelatin-like creature, which she promptly named Joll-O.
Her creation isn't capable of speech, but can communicate by making a warbled, jiggling noise, though it doesn't do this often. He's very much sentient and capable of understanding basic speech. He lacks a sense of urgency to any potential danger like other people do, which isn't a huge problem given his gelatinous nature.
Joll-O serves as Gerty's assistant and regularly helps her out on various projects. He even lets himself be tested on for some experiments. Thanks to his gelatinous build, he's able to be used for many purposes without there being a huge risk.
Even when not working, Joll-O follows Gerty around and casually hangs out with her friends. Being the assistant of a scientist who aims to support healthcare, he values the safety and health of Gerty and her friends, and will do anything in his power to help them.
Joll-O is made up of a gelatinous substance that's a lot like Jell-O. As such, he's capable of being subjected to extreme force, such as being stabbed or crushed, without harm. His limbs can even be chopped off, but if that happens, he'll slowly regenerate them with no further issue. In addition to all of this, Joll-O, surprisingly enough, is partially edible. His body tastes like cherry Jell-O, but it's not recommended to take a bite out of him, as doing so could make the person who took the bite sick.
Unlike the others, Joll-O doesn't have nerve endings, so he can't feel pain. However, he isn't without weaknesses. If exposed to extreme cold temperatures, he'll freeze and won't move until he's thawed out. He dissolves if he's left in water for too long, and he'll become unstable if exposed to extreme heat.
Joll-O and the art piece belong to me.
