I don't know if some of this feels cartoonishly mean but this is either a) stuff that has been said to me IRL or b) honestly? Kind of a reasonable reaction to seeing a sapient being made of animate bright green goo. Some people are probably assuming they're acidic from their color and texture alone, after all.
