Sketch of Jessica, Hoshi, Alex and Rud, with their new adopted 2 daughters
The family had made a choice: they would adopt children. However, that was not an easy choice.
Hoshi knew he wanted to be a dad, and he knew his family was ideal for it. It took long to adapt, he went from living alone in a quiet apartment to a chaotic house with three more people. The brown rabbit didn't really wish for a typical family, he wouldn't fit in, so he wanted to offer the same opportunity to someone that would otherwise spend their life in an orphanage or separated from their family.
The other rabbit had thought about it as a kid, she wanted to be a father back then, but it would be impossible now to have a child naturally. Not that it mattered to Jessica, but in her mind she already had discarded the option of having children, until Hoshi brought it up.
On the other hand, the future uncles had never thought about children. Rud and Alex had a very different relationship, they did their thing without planning. However, when the adoption topic came up, they liked the idea. It would be fun to have two little kiddos running around and joining their shenanigans. They weren't a conventional family, but being 4 adults would make parenting easier!
After tons of paperwork, they reached the adoption center. There were so many kids without parents, Jessica would have taken them all, although the younger ones were scared of her. However, they seemed to like Hoshi, they thought he was a pirate because of his prosthetic.
The chaotic family had in mind two siblings; two Rexs whose parents abandoned them four years ago, and they still hadn't found a new family that wanted both of them. The older sibling, Júlia, was 13 and full of energy, and the younger one, Joana, was 7 and very quiet. Although opposites, they cared a lot for each other.
After a lot visits, they were able to take them to their new home. Before that, they had to adapt it. The room full of empty boxes and old furniture became the new room for the kids, cozy and colorful. Rud spent days researching good recipes for them and created a varied and healthy menu, Hoshi read books on how to be a good parent and how to help them adapt to a new family, Jessica checked the schools from the neighborhood and contacted local mom groups, and Alex deep cleaned the house (totally not stressed). It was a lot of work, but definitely worth it.

I wanted to explore more the theme of becoming a bigger family with these 4, and I think adding kids to the equation will be interesting. And also it is an excuse to learn how to draw younger characters with decent proportions. In the future I have plans to make them interact with other OCs, since most of them live in the same city (for example, Camila who has two kids). It makes me happy to see how they'd interact with others, and somehow? it makes them feel more real. I got so many ideas for future drawings!
