For as fun as this game is, it really sucks. Terrible mechanics, slow updates, really REALLY bad gamesmanship by other players, and greedy, greedy developers. There are so many things that need to be fixed, yet I keep coming back to play. And this is what this game makes me feel like after just ten minutes of game play. Ugh!

Well, I mean, it's not an overly terrible game. It can be pretty fun. But the way they put the game together, it makes it difficult, nay, impossible to truly enjoy it. They have SO MANY technical problems that have been in it for years that they just simply ignore, instead opting to put in new tanks or new maps or some new premium tanks so that they can make money. So instead the game stays broken in the same ways its been since Beta. I mean, it can be pretty fun now and then, but it feel like they just took a great idea and flushed it down the toilet.
Yeah, I'm on the US Server. I wanted to go to the EU server because I thought Europeans would be more . . . well, self-controlled. But I heard it's just the opposite. Yeah, I don't know about the game, honestly. I think it's a great idea and their content is great, but, unfortunately there are a lot of low-level problems that need to be fixed before they can build on top of it, kind of like building on a cracked foundation.
The matchmaking system has been screwed up since the beta came out, the tracking system is still a little awkward, though it has been patched somewhat, and the spotting system still doesn't work and I don't believe ever will work. Besides that and a bunch of assholes ruining the game with their bullshit, either with team-damaging or just bitching after they die, it could still be a good game.
Unfortunately, with what they are focusing on making, it's obvious they don't give a shit about what needs to be fixed for the game to be great. They seem to be more interested in putting out more premium content to raise money from the wallet-warriors. To be fair, I think it's all right that they have premium content, it's just that I play game after game as a Hetzer (Yeah, I'm still at tier 4/5 because of how bad the matchmaking system is) with three or four Lowe's on each team.
Maybe World of Planes will be better. I mean, there isn't much you can fuck up with planes, is there? I dunno . . .

What do you mean with self-controlled? :P
EU server is a mix of brits, french, russians, turkish, polish, east-europeans, etc. Sometimes it's terrible...
Spotting system does work, you only need to know how it works and how to (mis-)use it.
Matchmaking system; it depends on. It's fun with medium tanks since there isn't a lot of tier difference. But with tank destroyers and heavies it's hell. And with arty it actually doesnt matter. :P
Also, since there is little option (except the tier 10 infested clan battles, tier 10 infested company battles and bugs-infested training battles) to play together with friends; the social aspect is insufficient unless you pay premium which is far too expensive for most players. Result: people get frustrated, lonely and bored and they finally stop playing.
Besides, the clan system is too inaccessible for mainstream players and far too much emphasis is put on tier 8-10 tanks.
Playing can be FAR LESS frustrating without a matchmaking system.
When you choose to go in a higher tier battle, loosing won't be so much of fuzz. Besides, you will be respected to have the guts to face higher tier and maybe even praised for killing higher tier tanks.
The main problem with their money system is: they think they can make a lot of money by offering expensive premium tanks and premium memberships. What they really need is a cheap low threshold stuff where people can buy stuff which are actually useful in contrary to premium shells and consumables.
Lastly, what I find very annoying is the superiority of soviet tanks. I'm sure the Russian game makers have some nationalistic biases...
If you need tips on how to turn the tide of a battle, fighting techniques, etc. I like to discuss stuff: I've been playing since closed-beta and have played over 8k battles.
I'm lucky that I was able to join during closed-beta, I now have a Valentine and M4A2E4 premium tanks as gifts: so far I haven't spend a dime on this game!! XD

Yeah, I did join Beta, last August, actually. I have the M4A2E4, but I don't have many matches on it. I just don't feel the need to play as it, I suppose. I don't know, sometimes I just get really frustrated about certain things. Like being one-shotted from across the map either by a tank that is three to four tiers above me, or, by an artillery piece (doesn't happen much anymore, honestly), especially when they're tanks I can't see, and couldn't hope to see. I've been doing terribly in my Panzer IV, even though it's supposed to be a fucking awesome tank. I have all the good stuff (grinded through that, and that was painful, like sticking a pineapple up my ass) and yet I still can't kill anything, at all. The T1 Heavy is hit or miss. It has great stopping power, accuracy and penetration capability and all right armor for its tier, it just moves real fucking slow and never bounces a shot.
The Hetzer does well now and then, but, it's view range sucks and I can never seem to hit anything, even though my crew are all at 90%. (Didn't pay for it, just that many battles) and I have the good 75mm. I always go for accuracy and speed rather than massive stopping power, because I can't ever hit anything with the 105mm or something like it. The T-28 is hit or miss as well, I have the 57mm, not the 85mm, and the Pz 38 NA, just sucks, period. I mean, it could have been a great tank, it's just, I'm never put into battles where I'm even, well, relevant.
I know the artillery is fine, it's not unbalanced, although I hate playing as it because I feel like hitting anything is determined by a random number god somewhere.
I suppose the other thing that really pisses me off are that other people are fucking assholes. Nothing more to say there, people are people, regardless of language, religion, creed, upbringing, or video game console.
I still think the spotting system isn't completely correct, but, I don't have any ideas as to how to fix it. And, yes, I do believe it would be better to use battle rooms instead of random matchmaking for the matchmaking system, so you could choose what you fight against, rather than playing Russian Roulette with three bullets in the chamber.

M4A2E4 really rules, it's a very nice tank. You really can harvest credits with it since it's a premium tank, the front armour is very good and overall it is a good medium tank. Besides, the biggest tier difference with medium tanks are 2 tiers: the highest tier tanks you can counter with a tier 5 medium tank is a tier 7 heavy tank, like a tiger. The lowest tier tanks you can counter is tier 3...
Panzer IV has great front turret armour (if you are using the schmalltürm). Remember, German tanks are sniper tanks, you hang back and let the others do the scouting. Same with the hetzer. Isn't the 105 a HE-gun? Check the accuracy, if the dispersion is around 0,45, get rid of it if you want to snipe. Unless you want to assault of course.
T1 Heavy is a breakthrough tank, you catch all the hits while you advance. Anything what is being spotted will be shot at by fellow team mates. Simply don't camp with it. Besides, most heavy tanks are slow as hell. :P
You miss a lot? Don't see any enemy tanks? Check this out:

You hate the matchmaking system? (I hate it as well)
Check this out: http://forum.worldoftanks.com/index.....making-system/
Then you can plan out what tank you want and see what sort of tanks you possibly will counter.
You might also understand why a light tank as a Pz38NA sucks in most of the battles... Just don't play scouts...
To take a look at the rest of the wiki-page might come handy as well.

I've actually never heard of that. X3 This submission is so old it doesn't reflect how the game appears today. Actually, it's a lot better and I'm glad for it, though many of my gripes still stand as a few of the problems still persist in some form. I got into some smack fest with a fanboy this week on Deviantart over this. Do people not see how old this thing is before they comment, or, do is my expection that they do this just too much? Anyways, I might check it out, though, thanks. :D
Unsure. I honestly haven't 'played' the game in such a long time. When I became disinterested with the same levels, same tactics, same goals, with the same stuff being recycled too much, I basically stopped playing. I'm not one of those people who can do the same thing over and over, month after month, like a lot of the people who adore this game play. It was awesome when it was new, but, it's lost that novel feel.
