And now we're into 2012!! This time with some updated art of Spotlighters! HERE THEY ARE HERE ARE MY ROBOT BABIES I'm still really happy with how this turned out! Gonna keep the old description:
It's about time I had some updated, proper art of the main security division up here! 8] This is kind of meant to serve as an updated version of this, which is the first time I uploaded these guys here. A few minor design changes and a lot of improvement later, here we are!
I think most people who watch me already have a good idea about these guys, but since I'd like to use this image as a general introduction, I'll do a quick summary here.
Spotlighters are a line of primarily security-based robotics, manufactured by Secure Technologies out of Amberline city. The most basic, common division is built for patrolling buildings and protecting assets, data, or other items of importance; they essentially function as all around security guards, and are most often used by companies though individuals may purchase them as well.
Some key noteworthy features:
- Spotlighter 'fur' is actually comprised of a series of clear, fiber optic-esque strands that can display any number of colors or patterns; when a Spotlighter is first activated, coloration as well as personality and voice data is randomized and saved. This makes individuals easier to distinguish and harder to replicate, as well as being seen as more 'relatable' to the general public.
- A Spotlighter's 'brain' is actually a removable chip card, which houses not only their color/personality data but all memories and things they've learned; this enables the transfer of an individual from one shell to another (in case of unrepairable damage) and even from one specialized Division to another.
- In addition to standard speech, Spotlighters are also capable of communicating with other Spotlighters via radio frequency, an essential way of keeping contact and coordinating with other units in the same building.
- Spotlighter paws are not terribly dextrous; to make up for this, they have prehensile tongues (of sorts) to allow them to manipulate items (such as door handles or access keypads) in their environment.
- Spotlighters are so named for the 'spotlight' on the ends of their tails; these can be dimmed or brightened as necessary, and are a valuable resource when patrolling dark buildings or at night. They're also pretty good for whacking would-be n'er-do-wells! 8D
In addition to the Common security division, there are several specialized divisions including Medical, Maintenance, Containment/Lab and High Security, among a handful of others.
