[OLD] Spotlighter Sketchdump - Containment Division
More art from 2011! And more from Artslam: Spotlighter Edition! Why I grouped the two creepiest divisions together is anybody's guess, but here we have the Containment Division (originally Lab Division). They could probably use a bit of revamping, but I'm here to upload old art, not to redesign anything! Just because they Have these capabilities doesn't mean they're eager to use them- I imagine they try to verbally de-escalate things or use body-blocking first, if possible, and intimidation alone can get you far. Don't like the thought of them running full tilt after anything or anyone, though.
Gonna copy their old description here!
SO HERE WE HAVE the Spotlighter Containment/Lab division! They are certainly more for keeping things in than keeping them out- the original thought behind the name (Lab) was that in this setting, you find several genetics/other type labs that have large beasties in them; it would be nice to have a non-lethal way of containment that didn't put actual personnel at risk. 'Containment' division seems a much more fitting name though, especially considering these guys could be useful anywhere containment was an issue, not just labs!
I'm honestly just going to copy-paste what I wrote over at Artslam about them, since it's late and I've got a few other things I'd like to upload.
-So like I said, these guys are more for containment purposes than anything else- while Common (security) Spotlighters are focused on keeping things out of buildings, these guys are intended to keep things in them; they have a variety of non-lethal means to do this, and are also the second heftiest Spotlighter granting them a good deal of force and strength as well. They were probably originally intended for use against more beast-like things, but they'd certainly be effective against people too if need be. (Come to think of it, lab-monsters aside, they'd probably make very effective prison guards. 8'D Nobody wants this.) They can also 'sync up' with a facility's alarm system using the same hardware that allows Spotlighters to communicate via radio frequency, and can set off the alarms if they notice something happening.
-One of their most noteworthy features is the pair of retractable grappling 'claw-arms' housed in their torso; not only do these give them an extra long reach in a chase or otherwise, but they're also useful for pinning or otherwise restraining something once they've caught it. For more feisty targets, they've also got some electrically conducive metal contact plates on their feet, which act much like a very short-range taser; and when something REALLY doesn't want to behave, these guys also come equipped with a hidden needle they can pop out and sedate a target with, knocking them out completely. Very fun at parties.
Another fun fact that we don't get into until later: People with below-board Spotlighters mod them! Often with parts from other spotlighters! You can imagine this is Bad when it comes to using parts from these guys, and I can think of at least one thief spotlighter with taser-paws.
