The Divine Beasts 3 - The Divine Bat (by buckovskiart)
Commissioned from the talented
buckovskiart!
The other Beasts make no secret of their presence in the world. Whether galloping across a starry sky or hunting in the crashing waves, charging through a desert storm or winding through silent trees, they care not for the mortals that witness their presence.
But the Divine Bat is never seen but in the deepest, darkest reaches of the world. Manifesting in ancient ruins and fallen kingdoms, one may occasionally glimpse his shadow, but never see his face. But why? Does he deliberately hide his face from mortal eyes so that his secrets cannot be scrutinised? And what secrets could he be holding, anyway?
Some say that the Bat knows everything that has ever happened in the world, all the way back to the beginning of time itself. Some even believe he knows more than that; everything that is yet to come. Or everything that could possibly come. But he guards his secrets jealously. So jealously that he will show no mercy to any who threatens to take them from him.
Or, perhaps, he guards the mortal world from secrets they were never meant to know.
