Hemlock Zorua is a Hisuian Zoura full of lively energy! He’s a sporty, excitable, and silly Zoura with a thirst for adventure and justice, teaming up with his best friend, Sakura Ponyta—on an expedition team. He was once a regular Zorua at one point who lived life in the physical realm before dying and becoming the ghost he is today. He was born and raised in a quiet, small village on top of a mountain covered in snow that worshipped 'the two horses of winter nights'. The Pokémon who lived there all knew him and adored his company, seeing how they all took their part in helping to raise him. He was killed on one night protecting Sakura Ponyta from a fatal execution by a cruel Nidoking and Nidoqueen that ruled over his hometown with corrupt intentions.

Fortunately for our heroes, a miracle took place that night; the two legendary horses of the mountain came out from hiding to investigate the scene, smelling death in their lands, and decided to help them, blessing them with power. Specterier, the ghost horse of the night, recreated Zoura’s body with the lingering malice he had left behind that wouldn’t rest--transforming him into a Hisuian Zorua. Glastrier, the horse Pokémon of the winter, blessed Sakura with a brand new strength and a completely restored body—carrying her back to the village.

Hemlock awoke to his new form, unsure what had happened to him. He had a strange sense, however, that the night he went to protect that Ponyta, was destiny. He shortly found, and talked to her directly for the first time, never revealing that he gave his life for her—and soon they grew a bond of friendship. Once Sakura got better, the two left the village to make an Exploration Team, now known as Team Hope. They set off with the help of their new trusted allies to explore the world, find treasures, and someday, bring the King and Queen to justice.
