Chucklebug is my first foray into the insectoid side of the lore of my world, he was only a few hours old when he was taken in 2 and a half years ago and right now he's more physically mature than both of his adoptive sisters. This was an interesting dynamic and I love that he gave me that inspiration for it.

Chuckles has the ability of regenerative hypertension, unlike most members of the insectoid species which harbor low regenerative tension, which operates simply as the ability to regenerate any damage done to them, Chuckles' mutation is advanced to the point that a limb would regenerate in roughly 2 to 3 hours without focusing more tension on the affected area. This process when fully focused would take roughly 30 to 90 seconds, but the energy cost and toll on Chuckles' body makes it incredibly dangerous to perform on masse, as it would likely render him unresponsive for up to days if not weeks on end.

Chuckles is the third adopted child of Raven and Beatrice, originally it was difficult to adapt to his habits and needs, given that as an isopod there were no easy ways to contain him. His development, both mental and physical, occurred at an obscene rate to the norm for mammals, his shifts in personality as he hit the various stages of adolescence happened so quickly that while Moony had to adapt to the menstrual cycle over a few months he went through an entire process of faith and question and collective understanding followed by a direct disconnection from the community he sought to join as well as accepting that they just saw things differently. This excessive sequence was something Raven and Beatrice took lessons on how to assist him around one year after they took him in.

The items and features that Chuckles wears or has are a display of his desire to belong: Chuckles mouth is insectoid in nature as his body doesn't have the same flexibility, his labrum and labium split in multiple parts down the center and his maxillae and hypopharynx are incredibly apparent alongside his mandibles when he eats. He thus learned to eat in private if possible to stop people feeling uncomfortable and he learned to seal his mouth as much as possible whilst talking and/or laughing, these are things that Raven and Beatrice have tried to help with but it was actually Milkshake, who'd go out of her way to eat with Chuckles that made him feel better about it; Chuckles medallion is a silly little buckle that he found in a junk pile behind a bowling club when he was much smaller playing with Moonshadow and some other kids. It was the first time Chuckles really felt like he was a part of a friend group and so he wears it to remember that feeling, something he hasn't had since then outside of his home.

I know chuckles is gonna do good in this world and I'm so proud of how much work he's put in to loving himself.
