"Ruben, in the present day, is a pretty diva-ish scout who is far over his head and has to content with the infamy he gains when he begins to become a bit of a flirty bitch. That's not this Ruben though, this is the younger Pre-Guild and pretty unsure of himself Ruben. He's a bit rougher around the edges certainly but it's easier to see the earnest effort he puts in than when he's masking all of his insecurities with irony and general extraness. For the record, this and much of the other oneshots will be pre-canon, though that's not consistent."
