We're ready for the Beach Volleyball season
Hello everycreature again! I know, it's been a while since I submitted my last artwork, that's because I've been having pretty rough days and honestly that's not improving so much, next artwork may be related to that.
In any case, since summer is coming I decided to do a new artwork focusing in the beach, the swimsuits and why not, a curious sport like beach volleyball hehe. I knew from the beginning I wanted to draw Smolder as part of this artwork, but my only doubt was with her companion. At the end I decided that Ocellus was going to be the best option since those two are really nice and amazing girly friends hehe. It would be really interesting a kind of extra episode of them competing on a beach volley tournament don't you think?
Of course I needed to use a lot of detail in this artwork in order to have the best results including a good sunlight, shadows, nice clothes, anatomy and even other smaller details like the clouds and the sand. After putting all the necessary attention I think the result is pretty much perfect, at least for me it is pretty hard to find something to improve and I'm really happy with what I did here. The atmosphere of the scene is exactly what I was looking for as well as the vibes the characters show here. I'm really happy with the artistic level I've been reaching and I just want to stay in this path as long as I can.
So, the only remaining question is. You think they're ready to win or not? :3

What a delightful picture to welcome in the summer months. It is fun to imagine how Smolder and Ocellus would do in a 2 on 2 beach volleyball game. Maybe their opponents are Gabby Griffon and Autumn Breeze? (I think Autumn Breeze is the Kirin from that one episode in Season 8.).
I wonder if it would be okay if Ocellus changed into a different form during the volleyball match? Maybe using her Changeling powers would be seen as unfair? No matter what, I am certain there will be a lot of fun served up during this day at the beach?

I like all the ideas you mention here Yosh. I imagine the situation pretty much like a kind of summer camp prepared by the school. With completely recreative activities like those ones. Ocellus and Smolder, first a bit unsure of taking part of this during holidays, found out that they were really good competing in beach volley. In that context they would surely be playing against other creatures, probably in different places around. I clearly can imagine a match taking place in Seaquestria, Griffinstone or even the Dragon Lands. A nice road trip around all those places would be not only amazing, but also the perfect plot for a kind of OVA episode of the show, yes!
You right, Autumn Breeze is the kirin from season 8 episode. And in my opinion, yes, transforming drastically during matches should be banned for Ocellus. Maybe only some simple transformations that will last during the whole match should be allowed? Who knows.

Oh, wow! I never thought of how this kind of activity could be used as a Summer Camp option for those creatures attending The School of Friendship. That would be really fun to visit all the lands the different characters are from and participate in friendship building activities at the same time.
Did we ever see a Kirin in The School of Friendship? (I never got to physically see anything after Season 6. I have been told of a lot of very interesting things that appear during the show that are never mentioned out loud by any creature.).
If there was this kind of Summer Camp, I am sure that Gallus would be one of the first creatures to sign up for it. He seems like he is happier at any place that is not Griffonstone. However, in my opinion, I think that he may enjoy his home more if he had all his friends with him. I am also certain that Gabby would take time off from working for the Griffonstone Post Office to make sure each day the students spent in Griffonstone would be filled with "Griffony Sunshine". :)

I don't remember seeing Kirins on the School of Friendship, but it is perfectly possible that as background characters we could see one or two, remember anyways that they were an isolated society which avoided contact with other ponies.
