I have designed my own and unique slugcat! PINCUSHION (He/him/they/them/she/her). And it came out so well that could work as a potential campaign for themselves! <3
I am not sure how to share the info, so here i will leave the ideas i have been gathering all along for this cute "little" critter!
Someone suggested me to give them Quills to protect himself. Able to hardened them to create spears and darts.
Like, long hardened quills will work as spears (like spearmaster) and short quills will be poisonous darts. And poisonous quills will puts targets to sleep for a generous amount of time. This will give time to this slugcat to swallow whole the prey :3 Note: They can basically swallow any prey or predator, and includes swallowing vultures, but this is a high-risk-high-reward thing since sometimes vultures aren't alone. You can eat one vulture at a time cuz these guys are HUGE and also stomach capacity xP. Unless you manage to junt two vultures, leaving the second for the end of the cycle, allowing yourself to churn the beast into pudge inside of you, and then you eat the second vulture for extra rich adipose in one single cycle!
This type of slugcat, has a really high level of stealth and agility. Basically a ninja. But their throw and stab damage will be a bit low, but their attack speed and movement will compensate. AND NO, THEY ARE NOT AS FAST AS SONIC THE HEDGEHOG LMAO.
But since they can overfeed themselves either by food or bigger animals, they will have a third section of "food" meter. Where the first two keeps the same concept of the vanilla game (First four will be just enough food to sleep in a shelter, the second row will be the extra food that helps for the next cycle) and the third section will be the "overstuffed" or "adipose" meter. This meter whill show how much adipose points the body will gain in the next cycle, making them fatter each time they reach this section.
Also, to include in the concept. This scug could live in a winter timeline, where is really cold that he needs to become fat.
Rain will be more difficult to survive if they become a blob... But easier with winter
Since, mobility will be slowly be removed the fatter they get, they won't be able to move to a shelter, but they are just fat enough to keep themself warm enough.
Probably other creatures getting close to the blob to keep themselves warm too from the heat that the enormous scug produces at his biggest size... just like penguins in winter storms in the nodes.
They lose weight over time as they use it for heat during the blizzard storms, meaning they have to look for enough food (or creatures) to be fat enough to stay warm during the storm in a shelter. There will be two ways of losing weight where you will lose one or two fat stages: one will be sleeping inside a shelter on a cycle without eating; and the second way will be staying outside under the blizzar (when the cycle timer runs out) in fatter phases (on obese and above).
Since in the max size stage won't be able to move that much, just waiting for preys comes to them (or rolling around like a destructive boulder) would make them lose weight every time they have to use their own body warm for themselves and other creatures... so that would make a lot of sense.
They can attract other creatures such as preys and predators during the blizzard (those creatures who weren't able to find shelter) to snuggle and rest against the heavy, soft, immobile and warm slugcat. Pincushion will provide warmth to other creatures as well. They can randomly swallow a big creature (mostly a lizard) to provide more adipose to their body and keep everyone warm enough during the blizzard (would be the transtition between survived cycles)
The quills will be useful to improve wall sliding. Probably not sliding at all so they can climb vertical walls without using another wall for wall-jumping.
So, blizzard times, their vore skills and overfeeding features will be really help full. As well as using quills to hunt and to move around slippery surfaces from the ice and snow.
Since, being skinny will provide a lot of agility and mobility for travelling and combat. Low damage on attacks but high attack speed and reaction.
And for fatter stages, will have more damage on attacks but slower on mobility, but providing some compensations on stunning enemies and putting them to sleep (as well as not being dragged easily since they become heavier)
And fattest shapes, would be more like a tank but unable to do much stuff, focused more on the defense side as well as surviving blizzards whenever the cycles ends since they won't gonna fit in shelters (causing them losing weight when biggest sizes and surviving the blizzard, but frozing to death when they can't get warm enough.)
