The first night is always the worst. It's when the reality of everything sets in and you realize you won't be sleeping in your bed tonight (possibly ever). During the day you're up and active so it's easy to forget, but once dark hits you've got nothing but time to reflect and think about how out of place everything is.
It's the same level of homesickness I had on the first night of overnight summer camps when I was a wee lad. So I know exactly how he feels, though at least I wasn't in an entirely new body. I acutally tried to put a lot of that emotion into this episode lol. Travis has it worse though, because it's not like his old life was super fun to begin with and that makes him even more depressed.
Still, could do worse than spending the night on a climate controlled rock with your own built in blanket.

Yeah, and I think Lucius is keeping hidden from Travis, in case Travis wants “compensation” for getting shut in a zoo cage and beaten up by Jasmine.
Sometimes, humans/tigers can be a little “upset” for being trapped in an cage, no matter how gilded it is. Furthermore, it hasn’t been made clear yet whether they’re working on getting Travis human again or not.
The last thing the zoo needs is a depressed tiger, let alone one driving off the customers with delusions and “conspiracy theories”.

If he was a huge nerd and can keep his human things here like internet and games, this would be a paradise, especially if his "job" amounts to just doing "tiger things" all the time. But if he was more like a "normal outgoing person," then no... he would actually value freedom and human hang outs more, being trapped here is definitely a life forfeiting nightmare for him.
I doubt Lucius would let him have internet. He says it's not "natural." Travis probably sees this as a nightmare scenario, but tbf he'd freak out about spending the night at a friend's house. I

My memory is fuzzy on this, but I seem to remember a character from the Vampire: the Masquerade lore who lived a hacker, got turned into a Nosferatu vampire (it's basically the ugliest clan who can't even talk to humans without breaking the Masquerade), and he didn't even notice any drawbacks from the change because he didn't go out of his basement either way.
