Funny thing though about his portrayal; while he's shown in the movie to be just some typical suit that knew little of what he was in charge of, in real life he grew up as a miner from the age of 15 and even after taking office, was looked upon quite positively by other 'lowly' miners as one of their own because he had grown up in that life.
