Inner-Selves No. 3 Part B
“Are you alright Sophie?” Fidget asked. “I think so, but how do you know my name? Who are you?” Sophie replied, sounding confused. “I’ll explain everything later, right now I’ve gotta deal with this monster that’s attacking you” Fidget said turning his attention back to the spirit eater. The spirit eater threw Sophie’s soulless body against the wall and faced Fidget, annoyed that his meal was interrupted once again. “You persistent little pest, this is the third time you’ve gotten in my way!” it snarled. Fidget couldn’t remember a third time he’d encountered this one, he remembered when they met a few minutes ago, but did he really meet it before? Sophie saw the puzzled look on the young bobcat’s face, then thought back to when she felt like she couldn’t move anywhere when she was crossing the street today. “Wait, it was you that grabbed me today wasn’t it?” she said to the monster. “Haha! Yes, it was me that was holding you in that spot so the car would hit you, once you were dead I was going to devour your childish spirit, until he interfered” it said glaring at Fidget.
Fidget wondered why he couldn’t sense it’s presence then, but if it was there and gone as soon as he had remembered, then it was no wonder Kat’s phone didn’t go off before Sophie went home. “Why are you targeting her? Why did you insist on going after her rather than fighting me? Are you scared of a youth sprite like me?” Fidget said it without thinking, he’d never referred to himself as a youth sprite before. “I’m not frightened by any youth sprite, I’ve devoured three of them in my lifetime, but when I sensed that this girl was a teen baby, I simply couldn’t let her get away from me, immature furs like her have such delicious spirits” it grinned. A look of terror came over Sophie’s face, she couldn’t believe monsters like this one did such terrible things to furs like her, and to these so-called youth sprites, that she’d never heard of before.
Fidget clenched his fists, he was so thouroughly disgusted with the spirit eater, it was settled, he had to destroy it right here and right now. “You monster, you’ve hurt innocent furs like Sophie, and you say you’ve eaten three youth sprites, it’s time for you to die!” he growled angrily. He readied himself for an attack, just as Kat showed up outside the window, out of breath from running. “Fidget, I finally caught up, I’m so glad” she said to him. She looked over at Sophie’s body, laying on the floor, and her eyes followed Sophie’s spirit chain over to Sophie’s spirit. “We got here just in time, her spirit chain isn’t broken, so she’s not dead, wait a minute, that’s Sophie, the girl from earlier today!” Kat thought to herself. “Did she say Fidget? That baby is Fidget? That can’t be, he’s my age, then again, I don’t look like my age right now either, and that is the girl Fidget was with today” Sophie didn’t understand any of it as she thought through it all. “Here I come!” Fidget yelled as he jumped at the monster, raising his rattle. “Too slow!” the spirit eater said as it grabbed Fidget by the throat and started choking him. Fidget groaned and tried to fight his way out of it’s grip, his rattle fell to the floor. “Fidget, oh no!” Sophie cried. Kat looked worried, but decided she had to use her power to help Fidget, she hoped some of it had returned to her by now. She formed a hand sign and pointed her open palm at the spirit eater’s stomach. “Battle technique number 31, Supershot!” she screamed. A short red laser beam shot from her hand and struck the spirit eater in the stomach, but it didn’t seem to effect it in any way. “What was that? That has to be the weakest youth sprite spell I’ve ever seen, you must be the youth sprite this little noob here got its powers from” it laughed. Kat looked discouraged, not enough of her power had returned to give her spells any strength. Although the spell didn’t hurt the spirit eater, it distracted the monster momentarily, Fidget took advantage of this and bit the monster’s hand. “Arrrrgghhh, you little runt!” it screamed as it let go of Fidget instantly. Fidget caught his breath as he fell down and grabbed his rattle, he jumped up again. Sophie looked on in awe, she had no idea where Fidget got such abilities, or why he looked like a baby, but in her mind, Fidget was her hero. The spirit eater tried to grab Fidget again, but Fidget saw it coming. “Too slow!” Fidget shouted, as he dodged the grip of his opponent and struck it in the face with his rattle. “Curse you, you little brat!” it snapped as it disintegrated like the other spirit eaters from before.
After landing on his feet, Fidget ran over to Sophie’s spirit, while Kat checked Sophie’s body for any visible damage. “Oh Fidget, I was so scared” Sophie cried as she hugged him tight. “It’s ok now, you’re safe” Fidget said embracing her gently. “I guess you know my secret now, I’m a diaper lover” Sophie said blushing from embarassment. “Sophie, it’s ok, I don’t mind” Fidget said smiling a bit. Sophie looked up at him, she didn’t expect that answer from him at all. “You mean it?” Fidget nodded at her. “Thanks Fidget for everything, by the way, were you attacked by one of those things too? You must be a spirit like me right now” she said looking him over. “No, this isn’t because I was attacked, it’s kinda hard to explain” Fidget said, blushing a little. “Oh ok, I understand, I think” she said. Fidget asked Kat if there was anything they could do to get Sophie’s spirit back in her body, Kat said yes, and soon Sophie was her adult self again.
“Kat, where’s Fidget, I can’t see him anymore” Sophie said looking around. “That’s to be expected, you can’t normally see spirits unless you’re a spirit yourself”Kat replied. “Then how can you see him?” Sophie asked. Kat pulled what looked like a bottle of baby powder out of her pocket and opened it up. “No time for questions I’m afraid” Kat said as she shook some of the powder in Sophie’s face. Sophie passed out, and after Kat failed to coax Fidget into changing Sophie out of her wet diaper and into normal clothes before her parents got home, Kat changed her herself and together they set her down on the couch. “What was that powder for Kat?” Fidget asked as they got ready to leave for home. “It was to make her forget everything that’s happened tonight, you don’t want her blabbing your secret around do ya?” Fidget didn’t really want that, but he still thought it was a bit over-the-top to erase her memory.
At class the next day, Fidget asked Sophie if she remembered anything about last night. “Uh, no, just hung out while my parents went out for the evening, but they said a car ran into the front wall of our house” she replied. Fidget figured the powder not only erased memories, but also replaced them with new ones, he guessed it was ok if that’s what she remembered happening. The rest of the day proceeded as it usually did, but Stryper and the rest of Fidget’s friends couldn’t help but wonder if there was a close relationship building between Fidget and Kat, after all, they sure did seem to hang out a lot with each other.
