Aisha and the Church, Page 2
Strangely, but fortunately, the door was unlocked. The heavy wood opened outward, and leaving her beholding a space within kept in darkness for who knew how long.
It was indeed once a church, she noted...after all, she -lived- in a rebuilt cathedral. This one was probably used as a small roadside branch of sanctuary for travelers and waypoints for wandering clerics. Still, the cracks in the walls were prominent, the pews standing and one having been destroyed, crumbled. The altar and podium stood intact, next to a cracked basin. The candles stood standing, maybe they could be lit.
Removing her hood, the traveler started slowly down the dusty carpet in the center between the pews, through to the altar, with the waning light outside as her lantern.
*****
And the second part, wherein Aisha continues inward. I admit I'm rather proud of myself for the interior of the church, considering I hadn't used any references. Thus, maybe I'm missing something, maybe not, but it's still a fair try. Especially fun drawing this, as I have a fascination for finding things like this IRL. x3
Enjoy!
Also I apologize for the stain there on the right. At the time, my sketchbook was in the same space as my water bottle...and for some odd reason, the casing leaks brown when it's wet. oO; Go figure.
