NKP Berks... the best proportioned 'Superpower' steam locos. I might add, some of the most heat-efficient American steam designs, too. BTW I have pics of 757 on her way to the Penna RR museum, back in the 70's.
I grew up in Hagerstown MD. (The Western Maryland Rwy's home) I saw lemme see now... NKP 759, 757, Rdg 2100,2101, 2102, 2124, umh SOU 4501, CP 1287 and a bro, South Pen 630, GTW 4070, Freedom Train 1 (2101) C&O 614/614T, and I think 1 or 2 that escape me. Most were live, a few were in tow...
I count myself so very lucky, by God's grace to have seen more live steam locos than a good 98% of my generation. This was all thru the late 60's/early 70's, when the WM management was so very friendly and open to the railfan community.
That was before the spectre of Chessie and the zero-cold hell that SEE ESS EXX has brought upon the scene. Ya see, skunk, I am a greymuzzle fur, and a railroader too boot. Although I do not count myself as a serious rail fan anymore, currently I work for a company out of Idaho, I am supporting the new MARC MP36 commuter locomotives delivered to the state of Maryland and Virginia.
I'd be glad ta discuss and rant to ya... I know a lot, and friendly to share. I just had never thought a place like Fur Affinity to be one to find interesting rail photography in! BTW I'm a Con go-er if ya visit one, look up the brown Yote!
