One of the original reference sheets for the common Falgrove critters Astrocat made some years ago.
This reference sheet is a quick look at the Greater Splyap, covering all the basics of the species.
Greater Splyaps are one of the less common creatures in Falgrove's woodlands, but by the same token they are one of the most dangerous. Standing up to fifteen feet tall, they are able to still be effective ambush hunters both due to their marking helping them to blend in to the woods, and their four jaws that are used to grab and swallow prey, usually whole and alive. They are highly temperamental and voracious in their behaviour, and it is known that quite a few lost and adventurous people have gone the way of the Greater Splyaps jaws.
While named very similar to the Lesser Splyaps, Greater Splyaps are not a related species at all. The name Splyap seems to be a local tongue, now forgotten, which as far as anyone knows comes from 'Splay Yap', or Split Jaw.
It's not known if they are a mammal, reptile or plant, or if they evolved naturally or were a created species... though why anyone would create such a beast is a mystery.
