Sal is a gentle average girl with a wild side, as she holds very close ties to her lake siren nature and family roots. She’s no threat unless you’re a fish and comes off as a playful, easy going girl with lots of friends. Though her own life is simple at first glance, it is her family that is linked to ancient water deities, and holds rather obscure knowledge from the depths of the deepest, murkiest waters.

Jay seems to be just a neurotic guy with some health issues, kind of a wet dog that looks too sad to be mean to. But behind his nervous charm, a shadow secretly looms over him, set upon him by his “family” he was adopted into. Now he does whatever he can to hide the strange and often painful bird like transformation taking over his body, hoping to live as normally as he can, while he can.
