While some mortals may fool themselves into thinking the Divine Mare cares for them, none harbour such delusions about the Divine Shark. Like the stormy oceans that he manifests in, he is cold and uncaring. And like his terrestrial kin, he is revered as the ultimate hunter. Raw and visceral, people pray to the Divine Shark for a successful hunt - or that they do not become his next prey - but there is little use in leaving him offerings.
On a wider scale, the Shark is viewed as a herald of challenge. When the foaming waves take his form in the distance, is it a sign that fortune is on the horizon, or a warning that someone won't make it back? Either way, a voyage will be full of difficulty and uncertainty. Perhaps the Shark will clear the dangers from the travellers' path - or perhaps they are his next target.
