Yup! You're (very nearly) right!
1986 Yamaha RD 125LC MK2 :P Distinguished by the rounded clocks, different engine side casing and change of wheels! (Thought the headlight is off of an RD350LC (mental machine), the exhaust manufactured by Allspeed and the radiator grille being a custom part :P)
I would do almost anything to have her back and if you ever happen to come across one... get it. Doesn't matter if you ride it or not, it's a little bit of history and they are very quickly becoming very very expensive little classics!
2 stroke bikes full stop are like a master race anyhow... The sheer power they can kick out compared to their 4 stroke counterparts is rediculous x3
There's a lot of 2 stroke sports bikes over here. Namely the Aprillia RS50 and RS125, but often ridden by yobs recklessly!

Ahhh, did you also take the front fairing off? I couldn't recognize that front brake rotor either while I was comparing it to a couple different models. The aftermarket radiator grill looks really nice though!
I've heard of the Aprilia 125 but I don't think you can buy them here =< I also think the Yamaha R125 is awesome and I would have one if it weren't an EU only model. I've owned a YZ125 dirtbike for a little bit but mine was so old and unreliable that I sold it out of frustration. Riding in the upper RPM's constantly was also tough to get used to for me
I think 4-strokes are slowly taking over because of emissions here, but the weight savings of a 2-stroke are truly second to none. I miss the weird smell of the exhaust sometimes

Mine never came with the front fairing... rare as rocking horse crap to get hold of, even more so at a reasonable price! I personally preferred it naked with the round light anyway... more of a cafe racer style loo to it :P
Front brake disk was likely changed at some point in its life... not by me though x3 Frame was sprayed white which is unusual for this bike in this colour scheme too :3
The Aprillia is renowned for being one of the quickest 125's ever built. 33BHP out of a 125cc engine is really going some!
The R125 over here is a bike that seems to be owned by everyone and their dog! There's LOADS of them about over here! I won't deny though that they are a beautiful bike.. and I can see why so many people go for them!
I still want to get my hands on a Cagiva Mito... another 125, 2 stroke sports bike but it's basically a mini Ducati. It's beautiful xD http://www.sportbikerider.us/Pics87.....va-Mito125.jpg
My RD broke down about every 200 miles toward the end of my ownership of it... it was rediculously unreliable (a bit like your YZ by the sounds of things!) but I guess that comes with owning a 2 stroke xD Agreed that down low they are a bit gutless though... but the grin it puts on my face when all the power comes rushing it at once is huge :P
4 strokes are definitely taking over. in fact, I don't believe there are any new 2 strokes being made for the UK market thanks to emissions laws from the EU :/ The smell is a love hate thing and a bit like Marmite... I happen to be on the love end of that scale xD

I think it looks great without the front fairing :P I enjoy the look of both streetfighter and sport style bikes, as long as it's not a Harley >.>
I love how sensible bike displacement is over there, there's really a gap in the market for anything below 600cc's here, and I think that causes a myriad of problems. That bike gallery site seems to have an issue with hotlinking but I agree with lighter bikes being sexy/intelligent :P
I love to think of the 2-cycle smell as shampoo or some kind of weird soap...I think it's all that castor oil in it, haha
I'm falling asleep now and should get my tail to bed, take care for now HyperHusker

Same xD
Despite the number of bikes I've been through and will likely get hold of in the future I don't think I'll ever own a cruiser or a Harley style of bike :P
There are loads of different bikes over here... most of the ones around are 125's and 50's, a few 250-400's and then a ton of 600's with the rich guys on the Thou's :P
Sorry about the picture linking. I've downloaded it and uploaded it to Tinypic, so if that doesn't work I don;t know what will :P

A two stroke shampoo eh... this needs to be created... now. x3
Hope you slept well anyhow! You take care too :3

It's not only that their style is overdone, but they're horrid for really anything besides driving in a straight line and simultaneously making a ton of loud noise :P
Wow that is a pretty impressive looking little bike, definitely looks like a cross between a Ducati, Ferrari, and a Tazon :P
I feel 2-cycle soap/shampoo should really be a thing because my showers are waaay too long

The loud noise bit isn't so much of an issue with me... I'd be a hypocrite if I said I didn't like the loud noise with the exhaust I've got on mine :P
I have vowed to own one of those little Cagiva's though... so if it's got a bit of Tazon in it that just finishes off the whole lot xD
Ditto on the showers... Though I've taken to having baths now instead!

I have to say now that one of the things I enjoyed doing when I first got my truck, was scaring little kids with the remote start
For exhaust I like to go with a stealthy approach though. I'd rather not attract too much attention (especially at night when people are trying to sleep, police, etc.), but a deep, low, throaty growl when it's opened wide would be okay as long as it wasn't over 100 dB
Red/white = Tazon themed bike :P Just needs more curlybutt somehow

Making people jump is fun :P
The stealthy approach can be nice sometimes... only downside is I find cars may not have seen me, but they'll at least have heard me coming with my current can! But a stealthy, quiet-ish little rocket can be awesome!
I can definitely understand your reasoning on that though... Just a wide open cone filter instead of the normal airbox will probably do you nicely... bit of induction roar can sound gorgeous xD
Curlybutt?... Tail off the numberplate? I plan on doing that with the current wheels :P

Induction noise, now there's a great idea! It's a shame that most of the exhaust noise travels backwards, making the whole "loud pipes save lives" argument null
I saw someone on an electric moped or something today and I agree that complete silence is too quiet
I dunno about an actual tail on the back-end, but a vanity plate, or a hidden paw print or other decal strategically placed would be an okay touch :p

Induction noise can be amazing... well, I think so anyhow x3 Only experienced it on two, 250cc, single cylinder bikes. One 2 stroke and one 4 and both sounded amazing when opened up wide. Both had the original exhausts too :)
I don't think it makes the loud pipes saves lives thing invalid. Don't know about the area near you, but I am forever hearing bikes go by and from a distance but very rarely a car (unless it's a Subaru Impreza with a baked bean can for an exhaust anyhow xD)
Not a huge fan of electric vehicles in general to be honest .<

I had a cold-air intake installed on my truck, which sounded really neat at first, but gets kinda tiring to listen to the drone after a while. Things that rev a lot higher I imagine are more fun to listen to though!
Oh? What about those Zero models? Or the Lightning, Mission R, or Yamaha's concept "PES1"? :P

I never heard much of the air intake up high in the revs on mine... not that either of them revved all that high, just around 2-3000rpm when I whacked open the throttle full and heard it gulping it in :P
They can make the electric bikes look as nice... fantastic even, but there's still something missing even if they do go rediculously quickly... I notice on that article for the lightning it said "For $38,888, the LS-218 packs a 200 horsepower, liquid-cooled electric motor. There's no transmission,"
That's an awful lot of money for a sporty looking moped... >.<

Oh there are actually some electric bikes with transmissions to still retain some of the experience :p I think it's just more of a convenience thing where they're eliminating moving parts so that it never requires service
It won't be affordable for the mainstream consumers anytime soon nah, but it's an interesting glimpse at the future :P Plus, that torque!
