I've been taking greyhound buses lately, between Toronto and Guelph. And I wanted to draw a night sky. Thus this thing. It sort-of rips-off the style of The End of Things, I guess. I used a brush-pen and a ballpoint pen.
Ballpoint pens are awesome. I never know what to do with all the possibility for detail and nuance with those things. Then no matter how neatly you draw with them they still come across as a bit scribbly anyways. Though I'm trying to make my pen-work more clean looking.
I never seem to draw my fursona, Aaron the Kangaroo, much. He seems to have no luggage. I forgot his tail again (hehehe).
Greyhound busses are interesting to take because you get a sense that everyone on them is taking it as a last resort. You imagine that everyone on them has a very good reason for going wherever they are travelling to. Like a job they have during the week, or a long-distance girlfriend. They are awesome for reading. They are expensive. I love them so far.

Strangely, I can picture myself there despite the lack of realism. I think it's because this depicts a believable, familiar situation. And something about the woman's jaded face ties it all together.
As a side note, I like the name "Greyhound." Most corporate names sound either too bubbly, pretentious or bland, but "Greyhound" is so understated, so unassuming. It could be the name of a folk rock band from the '70s. And it's cool -- not Fonzie cool, but cool like a dusty old country diner.

Well, I think Greyhound buses are everyone's last resort. They're slightly less expensive than a train, but still slightly too expensive. You feel bad about having to take it, but make the best of it. Like when you're forced into staying at a hotel (and use the pool) (this has not happened to me, of course).
